It's bullshit. They were hacked and the phones are so backed up you're forced to pay online. Who tf wants to give them cc info onlibe after a malware attack? This has been going on for weeks now.
.... and you couldn't even pay online until yesterday. A lot of folks that weren't on autopay got late fees, and/or shut off because they couldn't access thier website... it is bullshit that I can't even cancel my service without speaking to someone.... maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

I opted for the call back from them, which was 4 hours later, and never got one. Had to pay online.

Charging late fees during this is criminal. I really despise them and plan on getting out asap.

IF I ever get ahold of them... Im telling them that I need to cancel my service due to 3-5 months to live due to pancreatic cancer, and im trying to tie up loose end for my family... maybe that will speed things up. (no, I don't have cancer..... that I know of) :bigjoint:
I mean the credit card company you use to pay for Dish. Those guys kick ass. I always try to pay with a CC just because of the protection.

I got ya... we pay all of our reoccurring bills through Chase CC for the points. We've never paid more than $22 for round trip airfare for the both of us anywhere in the U.S. ...hotel also free with points.

@PadawanWarrior ... it's worth looking into. We went to FL in Jan... $22 for the both of us round trip on SouthWest. Booked for next week to San Diego... same.. $22. If we have a really long trip from coast to coast, we will opt for business or first class for like an extra $100. ... totally worth it. No black out dates or anything. We have so many extra points that if my step mom is gonna run up to WA to visit her sister, we'll pay for it with points because we gain more points every month. I really don't see how they are making any money on this scenario other than they are hoping most people don't pay off thier card every month.... IDK. Alaska this coming July, same $22. Booked.

I'm having the same issue with my Boost Mobile cell service. Boost is owned by Dish and suffered from the hack as well. I'm trying to get my phone network unlocked so I can move to a different provider. The only thing you could do up until recently was pay your bill. I had to pay it so I wouldn't get shut off. Now I can get through to support but they are still unable to get the unlock codes as some of the systems are still down.

And the thin is that I never even signed up with Boost. They bought Virgin Mobile which I had a plan with since the early 2000's. I just want out and all I need is the code. I already have a new sim from a new provider but it won't work until I can unlock the damn phone.

That company has had horrible communication with their customers. I can't find it now but apparently they made a statement that customer data may have been breached. That means it was.

Living in the country, we had terrible internet. We got wind of T-Mobile's 5G gateway... $50 a month, unlimited access. We were with Verizon on our phones, and paying $209 a month for 2 lines, and the $50 for the TM 5G gateway. We switched to TMobile on the phones, got a discount to $30 on the gateway, got the phone bill down to $140, and free Netflix. My old Hugesnet would speed test at maybe 7mbps... the TM gateway is pretty consistent at ~40mbps... I've seen it as hight as 90. We're totally happy with T-mobile.

It was a ransomware attack but I'm sure all their data was gathered as well and apparently they store everything forever.

Dish customers are still looking for answers two weeks after the U.S. satellite television giant was hit by a ransomware attack.

In a public filing published on February 28, Dish confirmed that ransomware was to blame for an ongoing outage and warned that hackers exfiltrated data, which “may” include customers’ personal information, from its systems.

Dish hasn’t provided a substantive update since, despite customers continuing to experience issues — or know if their personal data is at risk.

A former Dish retailer told TechCrunch that Dish retains a wealth of customer information on its servers, including customer names, dates of birth, email addresses, telephone numbers, Social Security numbers and credit card information. The person said that this information is retained indefinitely, even for prospective customers that didn’t pass Dish’s initial credit check.

Yeah.. I've just kept it in on FireStick.... plenty to watch. I just ordered an 800 mile OTA digital antenna to get the big 3 plus FOX... so I think with all that free stuff, I'll be good.
How is the Digital Antenna working out for you?
We cut the cord a couple of years ago. Went through the same 2-hour hassle to cancel that you did. No regrets.

After 2 years without cable or an antenna, I couldn't imagine having either again. Just follow a bunch of independent news on youtube... travel vloggers, podcasts & never look back. YouTube is better than tv frankly

Get a Roku box ($99) for your tv & install all the free tv/movie apps. You're good!

I want to find out if the digital antenna will give me access to the Super Bowl without having to get free trials from streaming channels.

Ahhh yea, live sports are the only downside to cord cutting. As long as the Super Bowl is on ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC then yup you'll get it on the antenna. The local major 4 affiliates are always broadcast free in the U.S.

Long and short of it: You get the box and hook it up. I only had the one internet cable line and Roku bitched about it but got it set up. After that you connect to your internet and away you go. Tons of stuff is free. Some stuff you have to pay to get.
But 100s of free channels are now available to you. You are probably never going to say "there's nothing on". I pay for the internet cable and Paramount plus for like $6 (yeah SIX DOLLARS) a month. I would not consider any cable EVER AGAIN.
It truely is a no brainer.

Roku is free but all the good apps you have to pay for. Hulu is 100$ a month for the plan that gives you live television. Probably best TV streaming on Roku. The non-100$ hulu plan has no streaming TV.

Netflix and HBO each have a separate pay-for apps for watching movies, decent collections, no rental fees.

VuDu and Amazon Prime are for renting new release movies, and old movies that are catalogued, many more choices than hbo/netflix, with no subscription fee. Most movies are $5 a piece.

That's all you need.

Every other channel/app is either a waste and only has b-movies or has commercials. There are a few others like disney +, apple TV, roku channel, paramount, amc, etc, but really not worth it.

Roku, the little device you need shouldn't be more than 40$
