Ok, Let's Try This Then (need a little advice first)

just make sure you get some good ventilation in there. I have 7 bulbs ranging from 26-40w (around 200w total) in my cab right now and its hard to keep temps below 80 with lights on. Usually around 83-85 average with lights on.

What are you using for ventilation?

I'm trying to get these PC fans rated 70 CFM a piece...looking to get around five or six of those and I have 2 - 4 inch fans that will be moving air around the inside. My plan is to have three or four of the PC fans drawing air out of the top of the box and 2 fans blowing at the bulbs. Might buy one more for a small intake. Then with the 4 inch fans, I'll have one blowing up to try to keep the heat away from my plants and the other blowing around the plants. Might also invest in another 4 inch fan.

Sound good? Any help appreciated.

I wouldn't really waste the fans by pointing them at the bulbs. At 70 CFM, it's not likely they will cool the bulbs themselves off or anything, so you're better off just using them for circulation. You'd be surprised how just placing the fans in the correct spots and a few holes can cool off your box immensely.

Sounds like you got the right idea for intake/outtake. ^like he said it's probably not necessary to have a fan dedicated to the bulbs. Instead I'd use those 4 inch fans to double as bulb/plant blowers. Look at my grow if you need an idea of what i mean (my fan is right in between the plants in teh lights. Right now I just have one 240 cfm fan as an exhaust, passive in take. Temps peak up to 90 (think i need to get an intake fan) and get down to 70 at night with lights off.

You will do fine with flowering nutes alone as you really aren't gonna wanna use nutes in that first veg week anyway IMO. And, since your veg time is so short I would just use 2 liters cut down to about 15-16 oz or so(leave a little longer than in-half.) since you can find these for free and because the plants will probably never use all the space in a 1gal pot anyway.

if u goin to use the bottles its a good idea to cover them so the light doesnt hit the roots

I agree with you both buddha and grabya. I'll put those in between the bulbs and the plants or add them to the exhaust setup.

Having a little trouble finding something good to use for my new grow ___. Found a few but the price is too much for what I'm willing to pay for it, so still looking. Also, due to the bills I have and shitty job, I'll have to use 2700K throughout the grow, still looking to add a few 40+ watt bulbs in there if I can find at a decent price. Looking to have it built by the end of the weekend and seeds in paper towels.

40w bulbs are usually only like 10 bucks or so, and 26w are around 10 for 2-3. Easy to find day light bulbs in anything under 30w.

Well, for some reason I couldn't find any 6500k bulbs, but I picked up some more 2700k at a bargain store in my area (4 bulbs, 5 bucks).

check a hardware store. they should have them. still, i've heard of grows with just 2700k, it'll work it's just not ideal.
also, after adding another exhaust and an intake fan my temps were at 81 after 12 hours with lights on. I do have to note its probably the coldest outside its been since i started so that definitely has an effect.

Thanks, I keep forgetting about regular hardware stores. I'll have to run 2700k this grow though, budget is about met. Going to have to invest in only one PC fan right now, will get more when I get paid again.

I plan on running everything after dark to help keep temps down. Already seen 40 degree days where I'm at (last month). Going to try and keep the room around 65F when lights are on. Oh and I finally found a small entertainment center to use, just about exactly what I needed. Have to see if a friend has a piece of thin plywood I can use for the back though. It has that cheap cardboard like material and previous owner took out a decent chunk of it. Might just staple some cardboard up there, I'll figure it out.

hey, have you tried only using 1-2 lights to start. and 65k can also be called day light or check 1000bulbs.com
Getting everything built this weekend of what I have so far, then I'll do test runs with it, with different amounts of bulbs. No 6500k will be used this grow.

Making the fans I have now the exhaust, which is the 2 - 4 in. fans and 1 PC Fan rated around 30 CFM. Waiting on a friend to give me something to cut some holes with.

A local hardware store should sell plywood to size prettty cheap. I can't imagine it'd be more than 5 bucks for the size of the back of your entertainment center. And ya, if you gotta pick between intake and exhaust, let the intake be passive with fans for exhaust.

I'm goin' to test it out with what I got, just to see where I sit. So cardboard for now, plywood after I get more fans.

I looked at the top cabinet that I'll be using for this, and I need to add some strips of wood for light traps around the door. Plenty of ways light can leak out of there. I'm goin' to take measurements and a few pictures (wont be the best) for you, show you what I have to work with. Maybe you could give me a few ideas. I'll get those up sometime tonight.

Have to get those pictures up tomorrow. And measurements, where'd my measuring tape go?

Have to work days through Monday, so this may take a little longer than expected.

Sorry guys, been busy with work and other things. Haven't had much time to put into the box, going to try and have all holes cut this weekend and install what I have already, start testing it out then see what needs to be added and how much. Cab I'll be using is roughly 2.5ft wide x 18" deep x 3ft tall. I decided to only run three in here because of the size and it'll give each plant 104 watts of light. Hate to say it but the latest will be 2 weeks before it's done (have to wait to get paid to get more fans). I'll update with pictures when I actually have something in the "box".

Hey man, you just gotta do like Joe Dirt says and keep on keepin-on. But just remember also, and more importantly--All work and no play makes Dutch a dull boy! keep it up man
