Old smoker - 1st grow - still have a few weeks i think?

It sure helps with a bunch of years under your belt growing, whether indoor or out. I only tried growing weed as a teenager in the 70's back when the choices (where I was located anyway) were mostly different strains of Colombian and Mexican weed or homegrown. It was usually 10 - 15 bucks for a lid (approx an ounce nowadays).
Occasionally some good Columbo Gold or Red Bud would come around for $25 or a little more a lid. Big Paraquat scare on the Mexican weed back then too. I never came across any.
I tried outdoors again in the early 80's after I got out of the military. My first wife babied those plants and took care of them. I didn't do anything to them except weed out the males and top the girls one time.
That was the last time I grew anything until now...other than a vegetable garden which I've done quite a bit of.

If your temps are in the correct vpd range, plants are well fed, and receiving a safe amount of light then you'll be fine the rest of the way. Just don't harvest them too early.
I haven't used either of the products you've mentioned here but if you can get healthy plants and a favorable harvest in the end by using any combination of products then keep at it.
Yes 1971 is when I took my first puff of Mexican as a freshman in high school. I think you got better prices than me. Gold was always 40 a lid, same as the red bud. You mention k90 is that Kelp. I also did my first grow organic. FFOF amended. I used botanicare grow ,bloom and cal mag at label rate. I copied from a expert grower here who posts his grows. I am getting the blue lab testing meters for next spring. I practice with peters products outside in my flower gardens. I am retired and tired of waiting for legalization . I don't have many years left to wait. I hope to do another indoor run next fall. I smoke everyday with my vape 5 session or more. I will try to post a link to his latest grow on here but I don't know how.

About same for me...tried it first in 73 in 7th grade...that was all it took. But I'm done buying it hopefully. Dispensary quality hasn't been all that great last couple years anyway. The future is growing your own great quality weed. I'm also retired and trying to keep busy with different things....this being one of them...haha 
That blue lab stuff is nice but expensive. I'm purposefully staying away from the synthetic fertilizers and amended soils. I'm going to keep it as simple as I can with all organics.
This is all I'm going to use in my next grow - click on thumbnails to enlarge.
1. Black Gold Natural and Organic Potting Mix - 0.05-0.00-0.00 - it's basically not amended with anything - blank slate like Pro-mix or Coco. It's what I'm using on my current grow.
2. Earth Dust Base and Boost - I have the Black Gold soil already amended with the Earth Dust Base - been cooking for 2 weeks.
3. Pure Protein Dry 15-1-1 - it's an organic cod fish hydrosolate containing tons of aminos that the earth dust microbes will love. They are immediately available to the plant when applied. It alone made all of my plants go from light green washed out color to darker green.
I'll be using it as a foliar during veg every week and during regular waters and earth dust teas (if necessary) during flower. Good stuff.

I'll be adding a small amount of this to the earth dust base I have cooking now and then use it as a foliar during veg like the PPD but on alternating weeks. Then I'll add it to regular waterings and teas also.
I haven't heard of many weed growers using the PPD or Sea-90. A few here and there but not both of them together so we'll see how it works out. I'll make a grow log here for it all.

I like your style, you don't need 20 bottles to grow great flowers.That pure protein is interesting I use fish shit 5-1-1 and the girls love that stinky muck. Keep on keepin on
Hey man…it’s nice to see someone else who used to grow outdoors thats taking a stab at the indoor space. I started growing outside in college (‘90-93) and had amazing luck. Me and my buddies ended up cloning and growing the same strain (skunk #1) for like 9-10 yrs. Ordered the original seeds from The Seed Bank in Amsterdam. It took about 8 weeks but damned if they didn’t show up in our mailbox.
Considering all that I didn’t know, along with the many threats to an outdoor grow ( not the least of which was its legality, but it changed recently) we had a helluva run and lost very few plants over the yrs.
We were kinda mentored by an old timer and I’m sure the word “trichome” was not in his vocabulary….nor did he own a jewelers loupe…lol
I will say that when I got back into growing about 2 yrs ago, I was shocked to see how early many folks harvested their plants. My old timer friend was a stickler for never chopping a plant if it had any white pistils.
I think there are exceptions to that rule but its usually my #1 indicator for determining when a plant is in its harvest window.
Anyway, I tend to ramble…but have enjoyed looking at your grow and have to say they look pretty good, especially for your first grow indoors….
If you are retired I’ll bet you end up spending a lot of time on this hobby.
Pot may not be addictive but growing it sure is.

That's seems to be what it's all about these days....finding your own groove and getting to a successful harvest. There's a ton of ways to do it, that's for sure with all the products available now. And so much info that you can learn a lot in a short amount of time. Great times for growing weed.

I agree on keeping it simple. I'm not trying to win a prize or anything, just trying to be self sufficient when it comes to weed. If I can get good smoke with a simple setup and methods, so much the better.

I like Auto flowers. I put some in my large tent with my other girls and when I'm ready to start flowering them the Auto flowers are usually done. Do not forget microbes in your organic grow.

Wow....sounds like you did have a really long run with the skunk. I love the smell and taste of skunky weed.
I really didn't do a whole lot outdoors with weed. Definitely not as much as your and your friends....just a few times and it's been close to 35 years since I grew any weed at all. But the weed we grew back then was just bag seed from Columbian and Mexican pot. Most of it turned out pretty good but we didn't know of trichomes either. Glad you had someone that knew what they were doing to get you started...it helps....that's why I'm here
I have done a lot of regular gardening outdoors over the years and I love being outside...but I have to admit, indoor growing is growing on me...lol. I am definitely liking it a lot and it does help fill my retirement years with a great hobby. I'm having an absolute blast with it...not to mention the end product and it's enjoyment.
Like you mentioned, I have read several times that you really don't need to look at trichomes until all the whites pistils turn red/brown and crinkle up inward toward the bud. Seems that many experienced growers do it this way and that is their #1 indicator too.
I'm definitely keeping an eye on them and will post pics and tag some of the kind folks here that have helped me out so far when I do. I don't mind waiting at all. Much more patient now than in my youth or even 10 years ago. I just want it to be as good as it can be so will be reaching out to people here for opinions.

I didn't even know about them until a few years ago. Nice not having to worry about light change. I really want to do some photos but electrical is iffy here so will hold off for now. Are your autos generally as potent as your photos?
Earth Dust Base and Boost both have microbes included in them. They use microbes from a company called Micraculture. Anyone can buy directly from Micraculture also on their website.

I've only tried a few mephisto and the smoke was all around excellent. Samsquanch og would have been a keeper had I been able to clone. I can't tell any difference smoke wise between autos and photos.

Of course the yields from the autos are smaller. I've been very happy with the results of all of my autos. I grew some purple lemonade and all my plants you look beautiful dark purple buds . One reason they're harder to grow is because they have less time to recover from whatever stress they may have. So everything pretty well needs to be right on for the whole grow. I add microbes every week for the whole grow. Oddly enough, tap water often contains Trace Amounts of minerals in it.

I've looked at their site. Seeds are expensive but they seem to sell out quick. People rave about their genetics. Might give them a try in the future. Hope my GG4 autos are as potent as their namesake. They are definitely gooey sticky like they're supposed to be.

Pretty buds....love the purple stuff...always have. One of my GG4 autos is getting some purple tinge to it.
I'm retired and pretty much around the house all the time so I'm on top of my girls all day long. I have had a few problems with yellow leaves and tip burn. But I've always been able to find help on the boards or from articles I've read to get things straightened out before bad things happen.
This being my first indoor grow has taught me a lot of things to do and mostly not to do. I'm sure I'll still make mistakes in the future too but it's fun trying to dial in your grow style and get things the way you want them.
I know I'm going to stay with organic but other things may change like soil, amendments, lighting, etc. I've really enjoyed this so far...I hope the new never wears off

For sure....lots of seeds included with your lid back in the day. Unless you bought some homegrown from someone growing locally....then it was lots of leaf mixed in with your buds. Always green and harsh but got you stoned...and usually 10 bucks a lid.

Picture update - 12 weeks
Getting close on 3 of them. I think between 1 and 2 weeks. Not as many white pistils left and amber trichs are just starting to show up on those plants...plus they aren't drinking as much the last 2 weeks.
I still have a while to go with the last one but she's really getting plump. After I chop the other 3, she'll have the place to herself until it's d-day for her too. I'll start my next grow in another tent while she finishes.
I'll post some trichome pics soon to get some advice.
