How is freezer curing compared to water curing?

I water cured some Herijuana about a month ago, and the flavor left much to be desired, but it was smooth and the potency was all there.

I've done water cure before, it was decent. The Mrs. really loves it, she has asthma.

Hang on

So dry the bud then put it in the freezer for 10 days and boom it`s cured ? Sounds crazy but if I get high enough it just might work lol

So in a jar still or in a bag or what ?
Dry them until the stems are crisp, but not too brittle. Then into the freezer, not sealed. Sublimation, (water in solid state converting directly to gas) happens but because the plant matter is frozen it preserves more of the oils and trichomes. You get more smell, and taste basically.

The lady friend would love a smoother smoke... but I am all about the flavor of things, and she is prooooobably willing to make that trade.

Been keeping an eye on craigslist for a small freezer yes'ir....

I can see how someone that coughs a lot for whatever reason, water curing might be a choice method.

Also I'd like to add, the Herijuana has a goofy flavor to begin with, so the little bit of flavor that remained was that goofy flav, which was wood, eucalyptus and cherry.

1 week no cure:

Same strain, different bud, 5 weeks cure:

It's amazing how just a curing method can change the overall appearance of the same bud.

Edit: I suck at trimming.

Pic #1 a few posts up was the water cure. Pic #2 was no cure, taken a week after the chop, pic #3 was 5 week normal cure (my favorite method of curing, a good ol' jar  )

A warning to those that plan to smoke the Heri but never had yet, make sure you don't have any plans that day... A couple bowls will lay you out.

The medicinal folk would love this stuff, very relaxing.

I need a good indica.... but am going along the plushberry, kush area.

What's the genetics of herijuana?

Pic 2's a little harder to see, but looks like it is very similar to the water cure (#1), and yea...jar's are looking pretty good. lol

I got my Heri right from the Breeder, Leprechaun seeds. Not 100% on the genetics, but it is mostly indica.

Personally, I do prefer sativa. I'm a pretty big guy 260+, not sure if it's that's reason, but it seems alcohol and indica takes more than it should to get the job done.

3-4 hits of some good sativa, I'm set.

Check out Leprechaun if you get a chance, they are some of the nicest folks you'll ever talk to. They're an old hippy couple in Toronto, the husband is from Scotland.

They sent me this all for free (except the freebies shown, that's from somewhere else):

When I did freezer cure I put the lid on the jar. Sealed it and put into a cardboard box (chef method). I do not have a frost free freezer so I didn't want the buds to get wet. Unsealed my buds would be soaking wet. Buds still froze and felf like glass almost out of the freezer. Then after 10 - 20 min of thawing they were perfect.

Ive always stored my trim in the freezer though. In a vacuum sealed jar.

Hmm my freezer is way colder then that it freezes 40% abv booze no problem so I`d guess its somewhere close to -20 but I don`t think my new one is frost free like the old one as I went for one with cooling units that make up each shelf so that things got frozen faster

What about the fridge ? I mean dry ageing beef is done at -5 to +5 c my fridge sits at around +2c and has the whole anti frost thing for beef you use them temps as it encurrages cuture and enzymes to develop flavor in the meat. Lets see what my yield is I might give the freezer a go I might also give the fridge a go too

Water curing looks like an idea too but my tap water is horrided but seen as I vaporize water cure looks like it should give me more vape out of a bud ?

Jeeze Beef they are growing fast huh ? do you get the Mrs to sing to them or something ? lol

Your freezer is better than the fridge.......it won't work in a refrigerator/read the thread he explains everything:

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=186222 .......Beef your gonna cut the holes bigger in your screen ,right???:P
I was hoping to let the plants push up into the netting, but yes if need be I will cut ths holes bigger in the scrog! The netting is very flexible, I might see how it works with the holes the size they are.... either way, easy fix!

Ok! So, I moved the netting up and I plan on letting the ladies grow for longer to reach it. :D

I realized that they're so bushy it's going to be difficult to get at the underside to trim them unless they're a bit taller, well, about 10-12 inches taller! :D
