THE KONASSURE

Hmm and here I am without a frost free freezer anymore dam it

I`ll have to air dry and then freeze it, my mum jar`d up some almost dried nevs haze and put it in our freezer for 7 days I have some of the exact same stuff under my bed stored at around 17c in a glass curing jar the whole time it`s been aired every day and what not

Now the freezer weed just smelled way better and was drier I don`t get why but it seams to do a better job.

Hey Beef! I'm glad to see the freezer cure was a success! It looks great. I think I might try that next time and if I'm successful I will likely start to transition into freezer curing.
Does it burn better than the typical air cure?
How does the flavor and aroma compare?
(If you've already answered these questions just let me know and I will search the thread; it's quite long and I haven't kept up with it.)

I said the same thing. When the topic first came up on here, I was saying no way it would work. Supported with logic and common sense. It really does work and even better too. It makes absolutely no sense why and how.. I guess when the freezer door closes. I guess it turns into Narnia in there or something. hehehe

It works the exact same way as freezer burn. When you leave delicious meat uncovered in the freezer, the ever so important moisture in the meat goes directly from solid to gas, skipping the liquid stage in between. This process is called 'Sublimation' or freezer burn.

It results in shitty tasting, dried out food, but it also results in properly cured buds that the arch nemesis' of THC (moisture and heat) can't get at!

When moisture leaves the bud it turns the non-psychoactive, acidic compound THCa, into the non-acidic, psychoactive compound THC. Heat causes THCa and THC to break down into different Cannabinoids, so the freezer is a natually great place at preventing that from happening!

Still growing strong! :D I might have to flip them sometime soon, had some power fluctuations that may have induced flowering.... I'll keep an eye on them the next two days and make my decision.

Nay, no smoke report on the Purps yet... I really regret not trimming The Purps better, it's a bit hash because there's more leaf on it.

They look nice and bushy.......Personally id get rid of the netting(cutting out holes/can't move them once established) and flip them now to 12/12, canopy seems pretty damn even and if you get some "stretchers" just super crop them....IMO

My buddy next door got a newer freezer / fridge. Mine is at least over 10 years old. His is not frost free. But trying lid on and lid off side by side in same box in his freezer. So we'll see on a moisture report tomorrow. My fridge and freezer share the same airflow filtration / cooler like psuagros. my buddy's is seperate. So that might make a difference.

^^^I'm in the same boat, sans the neighbor. I've got 2 jars of bud, (Black Widow), in my freezer that are in tall jars that have no gasket and wrapped in terry cloth towels. Just took them out after 12 hours and the outside of the jar was frosty, but inside was no frost. Opened them up to inspect them and the smell was what impressed me most since the buds that went in had a bit of a hay smell from drying a little too quick from an overnite RH dip. These already had a creamy fruity smell, which blew my mind. I'm going to check them twice a day over the next few days and if no frost develops I'll just leave them alone for the remainder of their time. I was gonna do the box thing but something told me thick towels should work very well drawing moisture away from the jar. Anyway guess I'll have to post some photos and a smoke report when/if they finish.

Don't mean to threadjack Beef. If you get sick of us you could just start another sticky-worthy thread about sublimating and dump us all there I guess :).

I might actually get rid of the scrog screen.....

As stated above, I've been LSTing them and the canopy is very even anyway, I feel like the screen might just get in the way and create more work than it's worth!

I will decide by tomorrow what I'm going to do!

I've never heard of freezer curing buds, but this looks pretty dope. I'm going to have to try this. This will be my first drying & curing experience and I've invested a sheeeeeetload of money on just 4 plants, so I obviously would like to use the best curing method possible. +rep. I can't wait to learn more about this. How do you know if you have a "frost free" freezer?

I did haircut #2 for the ladies tonight. I took off way more this time than last time, it's pretty much just the top 1/3 or 1/4 of the plants now.

I'm going to let them veg a bit longer, I see lots of pre-flowering but I'm not convinced that the light (or lack thereof) flipped them to flower. They were used to getting 24h light, and then suddenly had 8.5-9h of darkness. They REALLY look like they want to start flowering though... :D

So lid off seems better so far. More dry, pungent. So with my freezer im thinking it might be the ice trays or the airflow or what ever causing moisture. So trial n error time.

Yeah beef I bet you can "Scrog without a net" with those plants or you could just start opening up the holes and use it like a trellis for support. Regardless of what you decide it looks damn good so far.

No frost on my buds, but I can't say anything is looking dry yet. Maybe by the end of this week?
