I know several people that use opiates occasionally for more than a decade without becoming addicted. Myself included.
i'm not talking shooting heroin. but pills,pods and syrup.
I would not recommend anybody start taking opiates, but an educated and responsible drug user can avoid addiction if he can avoid letting himself fall victim to habituation.
