Yeah i used like 1-2cc per jar. Some got a little more than others but there all pretty close to that. So the popcorn works pretty good then?

Oh yeah, best medium I have used so far in terms of cost/efficiency. I have not tried birdseed yet, but thinking of doing a few jars of that in a few weeks to compare.

How much money does one need to invest in all the equipment needed to grow mushrooms?

I like popcorn too. For me it's more about water content. It's much easier to get the water content right with popcorn.

well if you have the presure cooker, aluminum foil. Then its gna cost you about 16$ for the verm, 13$ for the perlite, 10-15$ for each syring & 20$ for the jars. or atleast thats what it all cost me. I got all my stuff on ebay (except for the syringes of course) oh & then a cheap tubawear from wallyworld for your fruiting chamber. Im fruiting my second batch in a huge flower pot with a clear plastic lining over the top.

& that picture was takin b4 they shot way up im fruiting my second batch now & on my second flush for my first batch.

I spent less than $200 for every single thing (minus pressure cooker... Fuck i need one lol). Went to walmart and ace hardware and they had everything i needed to grow. And i mean it was well below 200 so its pretty cheap to get started especially with the resultas that u can get can EASILY cover ur start up costs. I dont even really see u not being able to cover it on the first grow no matter what setup u use unless u lose everything to contam (which u wont... Most likely).

Thanks & not very good yet,only got one small one , of course this is only like the 3rd day so far. I broke up some of my cakes & I got the most out of those. So have tried yours yet?

pressure cooker can range from 50-400 dollars.. depending on the size of the PC..
i have one that holds 4 quart jars at a time, and it ran me 250 bucks.. "all american" brand.
but for the whole set up, your probabaly looking at around 400 bucks.
it all depends if you want to go "bulk" or a big grow, or if you want to go with BRF cakes..
honestly it'll be cheaper for you go to bulk, and the outcome of it is immaculate.

hey sonar, i have been using popcorn for about 2 years..
to get the right water content is very important and heres how i do it...

get bags of popcorn at walmart..
one bag will hold 4 quarts..

dump one bag into your pressure cooker, without the spacer at the bottom.
fill it up with water, and an additional 2 inches of water ontop of the corn.
pressure cook it at 15 PSI for 45 min
wait for the pressure to drop, strain it in a colander and run HOT WATER (off faucet) for atleast 15 min.. this will wash off the starch off the corn, and not make it clump together.
after the 15 min hot water run, run it with cold water for 5 min.. this will rehydrate the corn
let the corn sit in the sink in the colander for about 15-20 min..
after the 20 min strain, get a clean towel and place it on a counter top.
spread out the corn on the towel evenly, and place a fan on LOW for about 10 min.
after the 10 min, the corn should be ready..
fill up your quart jars, or whatever jars, about 3/4 of the way.
pressure cook the jars for 1.5 hours at 15 PSI
let the pressure drop
WHILE HOT (and becareful), take out the jars, and give them a real good shake.
place back in the pressure cooker, and let it sit for 24 hours for it to cool down..
after the 24 hours, you are ready to innoculate with spores..

this method has always worked for me.. im not bragging, but i have never had a contamination problem with this method.. all my jars colonized very well.
i hope this works for you, because it treated me very well.

i always encourage people to go with bulk grows instead of BRF cakes..
the yeild and even maybe potency will be awesome.
ive gotten about 6.5 ounces off of one tub, you cannot do that with BRF cakes. unless you have a fuck ton of cakes.. lol.

I agree with EffMe - cakes are short sighted "easy", remember that cakes were concocted by a guy who wanted you to buy lots and lots of syringes and didn't want you to have to buy a pressure cooker. Corn will work well (as you say) but only if you manage to keep the excess moisture off of the corn - NO free water = sucess.

Checked up on the jars lastnight. Nothing much besides 1 alacabenzi and 1 BT have pretty good growth already. The alacabenzi has one spot thats probably about the size of a half dollar coin lol. The other 3 cakes that r colinized r still in there week wait. Only a few more days so they should b pushin mushies soon enough!

6.5 ounces, thats enough to trip balls 50+ times.

I guess if a guy wanted to be a dealer, that would be the way to go.
