Talked to a really nice, knowledgable geneticist / breeder who has 30 years of experience as do her partners.

she specializes in developing strains that are mold resistant and finish early. (Sept finishers)

I have 5 of her strains (50) seeds started.

The west side of southern Oregon is much sunnier than the west side of WA. Still, interesting to find someone who claims to be targeting that part of the world.

What Strains did you start man? I into Oregon outdoor as well. :-)

Oregon Grown OG 10 beans popped
Mastedon 10 beans popped
Cindy Blue 10 beans popped
Amensia Hash 9 popped
Blue Snowdog ( a freebie) 4 of 10 popped

Just got 5 packs of TGA Micky Kush and Vortex

She's actually in Portland..But same difference in terms of weather as western WA.
I'm on the eastern slopes of the Cascades in Northern Oregon (The Gorge) average about 25-28 inches of rain a year. Like you guys in the southern part of the state..it's very unusual for us to get much of anything in terms of rain between July 4th and Oct 1. What gets me is the temp change and the dew points in Sept. (This Sept was a completely different story though)..I threw about 2 POUNDS of huge Raspberry Kush buds out with bud rot.

I'm really liking some of Subcools strains TGA Genetics..His beans are spendy though..Twice the cost of Oregongreenseed.

Cant you harvest early to prevent bud rot? Or grow some airy phenotype strains? All og strains produce pretty dense buds.

I have a silver haze pheno that is like no other. It produces nice airy buds that are fucking frosted! The buds become a little more compressed during the curing process. It is almost impervious to bud rot. You can hose the whole plant down during the last week of flower, and very little damage would be done. It is also a heavy yielder.

My only issue right now, is locking down that phenotype. Once I successfully lock down that pheno, I am sending out seeds!

In the next couple of years, I will also lock down the purple pheno I recently introduced to its line of genes.

Anyways, good luck with your grow. Keep us posted on how those ladies perform.

This year was the first year I experienced bud rot. Oregon also had its wettest Sept in recorded history. Where I live it very unusualy to get any rain in August or Sept. But we got dumped on this year...High humidity and lots of rain = Bud rot!

That's the life of an outdoor grower though..you are Mother Natures mercy!

Come late September the mold started coming hard and heavy in the woods/blackberry patches surrounding my backyards (and was beginning to infiltrate the girls) so I ended up pulling early. Still decent but not as good as I had hoped for my first time. Provided the laws don't change I am going with 10 autos (haven't decided what) this year to allow for an early mature harvest and 5 regulars from beans TBD.

IMO...If you are in Oregon, you don't need to go with auto's. If it's a preference then yeah, go for it. But there are plenty of great early finishing strains that are potent and good producers. Check out Micky Kush , Oregon Grown OG, both early finishers.
