PAR T5's, Bagseed, FFOF, and me!

out of curiosity how are you liking those air pots? i was thinkin about getting them because supposedly they stick together like legos or sumthin and you can fit more in a tighter space

Pictures update...

Got some more red in my spectrum, replaced two of the fiji purps with new red bulbs from UVL that aren't quite released yet, these are prototypes... you can see the diff between the pics...

Update 4-13-12

Here are some "before" shots with the Fijis in, also will be used as a marker for how the buds were looking before they were added:

And here are a few after shots with teh 660's in place of the fijis so you can see the difference in overall growspace color:

Edit: Thumbnails aren't showing up for some reason.. will mess with it later, but just click the links for the pics. Not many close ups in this batch. I will do more close-ups next time. Gonna take more pics in about 4 days to see how the new red addition is faring anyway.

eh... depends... I don't have a good drain pan set up so right now they're spaced out due to the plates I have under each one. Not a big fan of that. When they go in my tent I'll be ditching the plates and just using the built in drip "tray" that the tent has, or finding a better one if I can, maybe home depot has one for dryers that would fit nicely. Then again, it wouldn't be as shiny.

Sorry for the delay, I missed your post before!

I like air pots in a lot of ways, but I'm not sure they're worth the hassle, since you have to water so slowly to keep from spilling anything out.

Looking great A.N. I am jellous since I dont know if mine are going to end up turning out well anymore. So irritated that I got distracted this week. heh.

Thanks man... I just checked out yours and they still look really healthy to me. Just do what you can to keep things under control. You are no where near a danger zone yet, imho.

Can't wait to take a new set of close up shots with the new lights, lol. I feel like they're a little more balanced towards eye-friendly now with less blue and more red! Should make for better pics.

Your attachments are bad on your post with all the pics, and it doesn't seem like airports are worth it, I'm glad I went with 3.5 gal bathroom trash cans

Personaly I love my air pots. If I were staying in soil for my veg/flowering room I would stay in Air pots forever. but since I am going hydro next run, the air pots will be moved to take care of mother plants. I dont find them hard to water at all but I like staying in my room for long periods of time any ways so i just water slowly when I am in there.

This is my first grow with them. I plan when I finish to do a photo shoot after I cut down with the full break down and soil wash from the air pots. I will have to have pics to fill my journal while the buds are drying so I thought I would do it then.

The links work, just the thumbnails aren't for some reason. Click the links you will see pics.

Edit: Personally, I would just go with 5 gal smart pots. Seems like they take up about the same amount of space as the 3.5 gal air pots and they're a lot cheaper. I'm not sure the benefits are there to go with air pots over smart pots. But I would not do a trash barrel, got no aeration at all. Unless you're drilling a lot of holes in it or something.

How much are those trash cans costing you per? Smart pots are pretty cheap and still air-prune roots and give you good air exposure all around. Not as good as air pots supposedly, but still... got to be better than trash barrels...

2$ a can compared to around 10 shipped for an airpot

Wasn't comparing them to airpots, I was comparing them to smart pots. 5-packs of 5-gal's are like $17 at home depot. That's 3.40 per for a much superior product with significantly more volume. Worth it to me.

yea these hydro stores suck where im at compared to when i was in cali, these guys are idiots and overprice everything by like 200% duno how they are open still

4-17-12 Update... getting closer and closer... one of three has about 50% red hairs... haven't checked trichomes because I am lazy and lost my loupe... but can see that there is definitely some ambering going on. Still, don't really want to harvest when I see so much new development still under way.

Looks great Altar. What week are you in?

My Bubba has about 30% red hairs already and I'm in week 4

These are long-period strains I guess... or I just stunted development when I scrogged them late and did a lot of high stress training in the process... but even last time, I expected them done a lot sooner than they really were. This is bag seed so I have no window to shoot for... but they are clones from my last batch and I didn't really feel they finished out til 10+ weeks.

This is about week 8, maybe 9. It's all a crap shot with bagseed unfortunately... wish I had something to shoot for, but I'm just waiting patiently for them to start hardening and redding up some more at this point. They are pretty dense, but with all the new growth still happening I want to give them more time.

I am considering a 4/20 chop for the ripest of the three... I will find my loupe and do some investigating soon and see where we're really at... but would rather see some more red hairs before I choppy...

How is the firmness of those nugs? Looks like you have your light at least 12" away. I find with T5's this give me really airy buds. My nugs are now rock hard but im keeping my lights literally 1-2" off the canopy.
