i never had the honor and privilege of serving my country...i guess i chose a different path. 3 of my brothers did and my father was a Nam vet. I never understood the "brotherhood" and "family" part of it. how my brothers would talk to each other and the abbreviations they would use and the mannerisms.

but now, i can say without a doubt the level of respect i have for the men and women who have served out nation is second to none in my heart and i would do all that i could to help a vet out if he needed it. the warmth, caring, respect, and honor shown to myself and my family after my brother's death often brings me to tears. men who had never even known my brother to men who had served 3 tours with him. from the memorial in our hometown, to the funeral at arlington, to dover air force base, to the memorial in North Carolina to the celebration of life ceremony, to the private tour of the MARSOC compound and on and on. Men and women of honor have shown our family such respect, concern, and love that i will never forget it. Almost a year later i still get invites to parties and graduation ceremonies; emails and phone calls from men who say myself and my family are now part of their family.

it's hard to describe the brotherhood between men or war without having experienced it. but seeing the honor shown to my family helps me understand it. these are men and women who risk the ultimate sacrifice and ask for nothing in return...they are the immortals.
 
Recently given to me by a new friend and compadre. And old soul in a young man's body. A weary traveler who carries compassion and friendship with him. Weathered by the experiences of a rich life.

I understand the words. What I don't understand are people who get brainwashed by the military, then enjoy becoming cannon fodder for the enemy under the guise of those 4 words.

No amount of any of those four words will make me want to die for the elitists who are profiting off of the deaths of American soldiers.

I don't need some barking ass hole yelling at me to risk my life for nothing to understand those words. It's cool that people want to die to prove they were "brave", but I enjoy living too much.

The Navy..."A global force for good". How many people world wide, other than the average American, do you think believes this catch phrase?

the world has all different types of people. we'll just have to agree to disagree on this subject. there are sheep and there are wolves. i prefer to be a wolf.
