The hairs are key.

I have heard that males show earlier, but have found that female are
easier to spot....because of the anthers.

Congrats. Make some clones. :0)

what antlers? Guys I found out a way to get 2x more 6500 23 watt CFL in my case along with my 4x 2700k 23 watts. The case has to be somewhat cracked open to allow the cables come in, but I don't think i'm losing too much light from the case not being fully shut. I was thinking of having this set up when I'm home and be right the grow box as I wouldn't trust this all by itself. Even if I could have the extra 2 lights in there for say 2-3 hours a day, will that help my plant? Else it would just have the 4x 2700 going on...thanks

Ya, go for it man.
More won't hurt!
I like the idea of mixed spec. anyway.
It worked good for me last time.

i'm going to post pics today..im starting to get hairs on the nodes....I still don't know if it's a female or not..there's white hairs on some of the nodes, but no single \/ type of pistol. If you guys are able to see this message soon enough, let me know which part of the plant I can take a picture of and post for you to see, maybe i'm missing something about how to tell.

update: this girl (i hope) seemed to not be going as fast as it's used to the last week. I had the lights about half an inch to a quarter of an inch above them, periodically checking at night to see if they were getting burnt of which they were not. They were all 2700k lights(4 of them) and i could still manage to touch them after been going for at least 8 hours. I understand that the further lumens have to travel, the more lumens are lost, hence the closer the better or so I thought? Is it possible that being that close, even without burning the leaves (about a pencil width away from some parts) can stunt the plant or maybe it's currently in a different phase of flowering? I changed out one 2700k so now I have three 2700k and one 6500; I placed the 6500k a little more above the smaller nodes that I'm hoping will explode, but don't seem to(you can see in the pic). I'm lsting what seemed to be the main node further and further down to expose the middle part that haven't taken off yet, though other parts of the plant are getting taller than that main node, unfortunately though with only ONE node on it and a lot of stem. I also have a picture as close as my camera can focus right beneath the main node and I'm hoping if anyone can tell me the sex yet. Let me know what ya think, thanks fellas for all your help so far. 0315131454.jpg0315131455.jpg Btw do you guys think my ocean forest soil and MG bloom booster will be enough nutes for this plant? I've been reading about MG/zinc/iron/etc deficiencies and nute burns. I'm watering about every other day or after two days max, basically just feeling when the pot feels like everyone seems to say. It sucks but I didn't drill in a good drainage system with my pot when I made it and it barely drains...although I never FLUSHED it hard to test it out. Any ideas? I used the oven to heat up a nail and poked holes through the bottom which SEEMED to work well, but I think all it did was partially push up the plastic around the hole, blocking incoming water if you get me. Any ideas? Lastly, should I up the dosage to 3/4 or full strength? I'm doing a little more than half now and there's no nute burn. Should I basically give it as much fert as possible UNTIL i see a burn?

Dude, quit sweatin it.
That's a girlie.
Don't you have a cordless drill and a 3/16 or 1/4" bit?
You can drill holes in your pot still, no problem, just don't go pushing the bit in all the way or something silly.
If you're not seeing any funny discoloration of the leaves, I wouldn't go hog wild with the nutes.
Just keep on with what you're doing. As far as I can tell, she is happy.
Are you still using veg nutes or have you switched to flower nutes with less N already? Sorry, I don't remember if you mentioned that already.

hey homie, how's your grow going? got any newer pics I can check out? For the drainage, i did try to drill holes into the container before i transplanted the plant into it, but the container just made big cracks....idk if the bit was too big maybe? I've been going 15:30:15 the day of switching to 12/12 and it's been 3 weeks now

If it was cracking instead of drilling, you were just using a dull bit or pushing too hard.
Light pressure will get you through, as just the friction will soften the plastic enough to get the bit into it.
Just take your time.
I been OK, thanks. Just tired-been helping a friend, so busy and just popping in and out.
I'll try and put up some 1 week pics tomorrow, the Sour D is about as wide as the cup now, Purple Kush still kinda small, but we're comparing Indica dom. to Sativa dom., so I'm not panicking.
AND, there is about 16 hours difference between sprouting times too.
As far as nutes, that is kinda high on N IMO, I would try and find something a little lower in N for flower.
You should be OK till now, most plants will stretch into the second/ third week so they eat it up, but too much N further into flower can delay bud growth.

damn, i thought i should have bought this nute specifically FOR flower. I know you like lowes, do you know anything there with no N in it? Do you think my girl is developing slow? 3 weeks flower

I haven't been able to find it yet this season, but last year, I found a package of stuff in the seed rack, only like an ounce or something, but you don't need to use much.
It was "Burpee" and veggie ferts, something like 0-15-11.
In an envelope like the seeds come in, so look around the seed packets.;-)

yeah i can't find anything. will the 15-30-15 REALLY fuck up or slow my plant down? My hydro stores sells bloom nutes but it's like 18 bucks a bottle and I prob won't grow again for a long long time

i said fuck it...just ordered some florabloom for 13.50 ..32 oz. This grow box is taking up more money than i planned haha, do you think there's going to be anything else i'll need? I hear people saying that getting cal and mag supps are sometimes needed. Also people tend to say to add molasses to get bud density, do you do that? Some of my leaves do have those little red dots on them which I'm seeing from these symptom pictures are cal and mag deficiencies. Do you know a cheap way to remedy this problem? People say esptom salt or sea salt but how do you know how much to add and do you know if it effects the PH as well so ill have to adjust that ? thank you! But i mean, it's only on like 4-5 leaves and not even a lot on those at that, do I HAVE to do something or screwing up this girl badly?

0318131659.jpg Too close to the light or good enough? I don't see any burn marks on the top . Ordered this on ebay

I'm reading about N during flowering and everyone says that you definitely want to keep it throughout until harvest. Since i have the MG 15-30-15 and now ill have this nute which is 0-5-4 and I water probably 3 times a week. Should i go 2 days with no N and one day with N? SO ill have now have two gallon jugs and use them accordingly? My plant stopped really smelling like bud and more of a grassy smell now as well
