If you use the actual journal section for a grow journal instead of posting it in a thread, then you can utilize the mod option and control and approve which posts/comments actually get seen. Great way to get stop these "trolls" everyone is calling for genocide on from ruining your journals

You are right, this thread is bound to point out how people argue and bitch at each other on here, but doesn't it also point out that even when not trying to bash anyone but rather just get a poll/petition going there are people that feel they need to come and try putting him down, or putting down the people that choose to sign it?

Your "ignore" the trolls theory can go for them as well, if the "trolls" or flamers that don't agree with the poll or petition simply stayed away then it wouldn't be a bash fest, right? Once again if someone comes onto a person's thread and tries to put them down or insult them then I feel like the OP has a right to defend himself and his thread and that the people supporting him can do so as well.

Whether we like it or not the trolls are going to be around, we aren't trying to have trolls go extinct, we are simply trying to find a better way to go about dealing with them and those that argue back with them. People that don't agree don't have to agree with us, that is why there is a yes and a no button for agreeing, simply click that and move on. If you feel so inclined as to put your opinion why you don't agree then that is fine.

Not trying to get everyone to agree with us, rather just trying to gather the people that have similar viewpoints when it comes to this. If someone came onto RIU and started bashing stoners then all of the stoners would team together against the person, yeah? Well same goes here, just on a smaller scale. A small group of us are seeing if we can even gather enough backing to try bringing this up to RIU and see if anything can be done, if people come in here and try putting us down then of course people are going to defend themselves, it's natural to defend ourselves, be it online or face to face.
 
Is that a promise? I hope so.... as long as you see yourself as a leader of abolishing rules and those that agree with you as "your people"....

Damn guys let's take a step back, we are all stoners growing a federally illegal plant, we should all be on the same team. Yes things have been fucking crazy at RIU, but Damn we need to smoke a bowl and chill the fuck out.

You make good points. I felt that way too... like I said, my very first thread had a troll that caused me to respond rather poorly. It was locked, I was given an infraction and told to grow up, it's the internet and and it's a public forum with rules so all can enjoy it. if we all followed the rules, we wouldn't even have to be having this conversation, but it's obvious some won't, and to them I say, exercise your option of freedom and just not log in at all. we'll be a better place for it...

Cursing while debating bring ABSOLUTELY NOTHING positive to the debate.

Cursing is also like a two edged sword. You can carry it and do a lot of dameage if used appropriately(and there is a time and place, just not during a disagreement). But if you go around using it for every little chore and task, it will quickly become useless.
 
I already presented several options.... report it, ignore them and if you can't bring yourself to ignore a 13 year old troll, use the ignore feature.... the other option is to quit logging in....

How does following rules designed to keep the site friendly make me a prohibitionist? LOL... you are on a roll today... ;)

There is a HUGE difference between the use of "one" or "some" vs. "you" and "all" when having a disagreement.

As in "You must be an idiot to believe that!" vs. "One would have to be an idiot to believe that!".

One makes it personal, the other makes it more clinical and therefore easier to have a productive dialogue.

do you not see the staggering irony of you statement? you basically DID insult him back, just in a passive way. if a certain mod was here you probably would have gotten an infraction, depending on his time of the month. that's the point here. i don't think what you said was offensive at all, but some people don't agree. like i said, we need clarity and consistancy.
