Picking mushrooms

i wish i could just go pick some muckers but i think my areas too dry..
anyone know anywhere in the lowest parts of california where i could get em?

ya, I would normally just just say 1/4 of a print, there are zillions of spores of each print. only one needs to get into each jar to grow the culture. I think you ended up with so few bc of the method you used. You fruited straight from a jar correct? You can find coconut fiber at a local hydroponics store. It is the outside of the coconut, not the white stuff on the inside. The mycelum can eat the fiber and its good at holding water. Mushrooms are mostly water, so if they run out of water they can't grow. This is why you find them in fields after rains or durring the rainy seasons of the south.

I colonized the substrate in the jars, then soaked the cakes overnight, then placed them into the fruiting chamber (large plastic tub with lid, holes screwed all over for ventilation, 2-4" moist perlite. temp 75F, humidity 85% using heating pad). I don't think I uderstand your setup. what all is in the fruiting chamber? and you do colonize the substrate in jars, correct?

our process should be the same in the begining. Yes, I first colonize in the jars. When the jar is ready I then starilize the vermiculite and coconut fiber wet. once cooled I break out the pans and the jars.mix 1/2 jar in each pan then through in the 50/50 mixture, mix them all togheter in the pan, add a top layer of just the 50/50. Next cover the pan with cling wrap and put back in the closet to colonize again. once the top layer is white then put the pans in your fuiting chamber. Usually I'll put them in the terarium (fuiting chamber) for a couple days then spay them with a fine mist simulating a rain and that seems to speed up the pinning process, with a more complete first flush (more mushrooms).
The over head picture I attached is probably from a third flush, you can see some mold starting. Each flush usually comes with a couple less mushrooms. Looks good right?

If you pick shroom out of cow shit, wouldnt you have to wash them.?...Im not positive but im pretty sure that Ive read that mushrooms lose a lot of their potency when washed...i guess ur only alternative is eating cowshit For the experts out there, can you find wild shrooms in cali, i would grow my own but the spores are illegal here, and none of the internet stores that sell em will ship em here....

Another downside to picking wild mushrooms is eating neon blue maggots that are stuck in hyperspace, lol.

When is shrooming season in the midwest? where do i look for shrooms? would it be illegal to park next to a field full of cows and go for a walk/go picking?

Silly people. You don't eat the shit from field mushrooms, as a matter of fact not all mushrooms in a feild maybe growning from a patty. A lot are just in tall grass or under the shade of trees. You would take care to ensure there is no shit on your shooom before you ate it for sure.
I agree about growing your own, much less risk, you can know your strand and it's potency pluss picking mushrooms out in the field takes a toll on those little guys. You get them home and they are all beat up, black and not very applealing looking as aposed to the beautiful white, dried mushroom of a gently taken care of home grown.

well the spores are illegal in california....so I dont think so...not legally atleast

In Florida you will be convicted of a felony if you have a bag of wet mushrooms. The loop hole is for farmers who have mushrooms growing in their fields, not people with bags full. As long as they can prove you intended on using them for cunsumtion(example-A big fuckin bag full) you can go to prison, not just the county jail.

I know from experience people! No loop holes for the trespasser.

most people just break that part off if there is anything there. yes rising them off is fine. more more you handle them is where the damage comes in to play, not water.
