It's been over a week and my two haven't touched noses yet. The cat has sniffed his paws within 48 hours and again recently. The dog is backing away (terrified of the spitting hissing fur-ball) and is waiting for the cat to make the first move. The cat knows he commands the situation so is quite chilled out. I just want them to be friends.

my dog is scared to death of these cats. He acts all tough barking at them but he won't get near them. the little female cat we have has figured it out and has started chasing him around sometimes. shit you not

I'll always remember how scared my Shepherd was of a tiny 6 week kitten that I brought home. Those two became best friends but this cat didn't like the other cat, just the dog. It'll take a while but it'll be ok. I sit/crouch in between them both and stroke them trying to narrow the gap. They are more confident when I'm there to referee. :)

I go to the Parc everyday with him. He loves it. Today I put him on the lead and took him into the kids play area. I introduced him to the Spanish mothers so their kids could stroke him. It's good for him, the kids and it changes the parents mind about the breed.

Nothing beats that socialization and new stimulus introduction. Makes them a more stable dog when new situations present, IMO. How is he walking on lead in traffic? I always used a short, 18 inch one and they knew this meant heel, head up, no sniffing around and the 10' one allowed them to range around. Sometimes the cat is just the Alpha and that's it. It's only been a 2-3 weeks, right?

My young friend who gave him to me had already been quite dedicated to training. He sits at the kerb but he doesn't know why!!?? I rarely have to remind him to keep pace/heel with me. He gets very excited on the way out! I practice extra slow walking so he gets the message. I've taught him down and to sit and wait at the door. He comes when I call him. Going to teach him 'shut the door' next. I walk him off the lead except near roads or busy areas where he might scare people. All in all, great! It's 2 weeks this Sunday.

you could try giving him the "look" command and pointing left and right after you stop. helpful when unloading him from a car traffic side. sounds like he's a great dog. love them when they're that age.:)
Well funnily enough he doesn't always sit unless I point and click my fingers so I do both at the same time. Im using hand command to teach him 'down'. He's just so eager to please. He's great on the metro and last night I took him on outdoor escalators (it's really hilly here). Just want to prepare him for escalators on the metro when they change the law this Summer and pets are finally allowed aboard. :)

My new lizard i found in the back yard , i hope it get's on with my other one's !
I have seen the babies and the grown ups eating baby crickets (there is enough there for them )
I have also been spraying the whole tank with a water sprayer and al the lizards come out and start drinking
from the leaves and bark i have in there .
I hope they end up breeding , i will let more babies go into my back yard .
I have already released 3 small ones back into the wild .

Here is a picture of my new Samoyed Puppy - Akiro, he is a handful but I love him already. Woke up at 12:30-2:30-4:30 and finally I got up at 6:30am. Glad I took a few days off work to spend with him first, get over the separation anxiety, I am trying to have power naps while he is sleeping so I don't feel like a zombie, then get up and take him out to the toilet each time he wakes up, only two accidents inside so far, doing pretty well.

awwwww sooooooo cuuuuuuutttte!

CHICK MAGNET!

go to the park man, go right now!
Haha I went to the beach after I picked him up, more like a kid magnet (school holidays), every kid on the beach wanted to run up and pat him. It was all bit overwhelming for him since I am new person the beach is a totally new place, sand is new, and here are all these kids running up to pat him. He handled it well but didn't want him to get overwhelmed so I left and came home to introduce him to his new environment.

My fiancé would not be cool with me using the dog to pick up chicks, haha.
