Ok, so this has happened to me twice now, working on my second grow. I germinate the seeds and little white roots come out. I plant and water them, I have 8 26w daylight CFL's and I'm using a cheap organic soil. I am beginning to think that my be the problem. What else...my lights are maybe 5 inches above the soil, I have a fan on them, temperature is ideal. I bot a PH tester last night and found that my water is above a 7.5 so I fixed that. But my first grow I didn't have the PH tester and grew weed. I planted them Monday evening. Lights are on 24/7. and finally it is just some bag seed. Anything helps!!! Please, I want to grow again!!

Pre germineting out of soil is the way to go
i think thats what he is doing.

make sure u aren't overwatering and it will rot the taproot and it will die. just make sure the soil is moist. I use a spray bottle to spray the top of the soil and it works

ok there is a possibility of over watering, I only water when I stick my finger in the soil and there is no moisture. But that usually means I water twice a day (I have them in those tiny jiffy pot things that allow the roots to grow through them). If over watering is my problem, should I start another grow or can these still survive? Yes I germinated them in a wet paper towel for 36 hours.

no dont give up on them yet. i over watered mine and thought that was it but after a few days they did come through. no more water until the soil is dry at least 2 inches down. every 3-4 days is best to water when they are that young, spray bottle only i'd suggest

when you plant wet the soil good after putting sprouts in, not wet like dripping out the bottom but saturated, and if you have a spray bottle keep the top of soil moist by spraying twice a day it helps them pop up, and keep an eye out for fungus on your soil if its on the surface it's killing the tap root off just some thoughts good luckbongsmilie
