Platinum OG's Under Spider Farmer SF-7000

OK, winter is almost over - except that some of the worst weather and temps of the winter is hitting in the last two weeks of winter, so it's time to get a new crop going. I've got four Platinum OG's from Pacific Seed Company (an absolutely super seed bank!!) in 5 gallon grow bags under the SF-7000. We had temps in the teens last night so I had to put all my seeding basils, peppers, lettuce, etc in my grow tent to keep them from getting killed. I planted (direct sow) one seed 3/4 and it got it's first true leaves on 3/11. I planted three more today (3/13) in bags and under a small LED light in the house. After the threat of frost I'll take the veggies out and put the new girls in the grow tent.

In the bag: approximately 40/40 mix of worm poop and peat with some Azomite thrown in, and the rest is good top soil with probably some Black Cow in it. I may top dress it with some rock phosphate and then DTE to keep out the pests. I'll have automatic watering via irrigation tubing that I drilled holes in and placed sub-surface. If any of you experts want to make suggestions on the mix I'm using, be my guest.

I read the reviews again today on the Platinum OG and I can not wait to try this; almost all 5 stars saying the same things, especially "Not for the average toker". This will be a slightly staggered harvest with the first one being 9 days older.

A huge shout-out to Spider Farmer for making such an amazing light; I swear you could see this thing from the moon! I have the one seedling under it, with it on the lowest setting, and it's loving it. I love that it doesn't have a fan.

Many more photos to come.

Okie dokie, I bought a new computer and have not been able to get my old password for my Potpimp account. This is a very old sock account (for use ONLY as a backup). Rollie takes our security very seriously so I'm posting an updated photo of my new grow so, hopefully he (or Sunni) will know it's really me. I've got two more up and one lazy-azz one that hasn't popped yet. DSC_4199.JPGDSC_4200.JPG

OK, Potpimp here (my sock puppet account). One of my beans never germed so I removed the grow bag. I rigged up an auto watering system that drips underneath the top layer of soil mix. You can see a few little burnt spots on the leaves where I missed a few water drops when watering a couple of days ago. It works really nicely. I'm using Master Blend, which calls for adding Epsom salts, mixing then Calcium Nitrate. Man this stuff goes a long way!! PH was 5.6 after mixing. The SF-7000 helped keep the babies warm when it was cold but damn... this thing gets really hot. Good thing I've got an air conditioner in the grow room; you can see the edge of it in the pic with the light.

Two weeks have passed and I wanted to give an update. The oldest plant is doing great, and the other two are plugging along too. She's a few days into flower now and growing like crazy. She's really short but crazy bushy. I brought in two basil plants to save them from the freeze; it killed all my tomatoes and some peppers, and more basil. Not much more to tell.

I added a slug of Advanced Nutes "Ancient Earth" to my water, (I'm not adding any more nutes other than this and Big Bud) and two days later the bud sites have grown an inch and a half!! The plant is still only about 16" tall but I bet she's gonna produce like crazy.

Eight days older and still happy. I LST'ed the bigger plant and snipped some fan leaves. I think the added nutes might have been a little much for the two younger plants, but they're fed from the same bucket so, they'll just have to do what they'll do; I can live with a few rust spots on the fan leaves. That will clear up when they go into flower. I have to say that I'm absolutely shocked at what this Spider Farmer light is doing to these plants. I've got plenty of room for a few basils, peppers, etc so I've been sticking them in there and they're at least 20X the size of the same ones that are only getting sunlight.

Update for 5/10/22: The plant looks like hell, but to be expected since she only has about a week to live. The bud is really swelling up. I sure hope this lives up to the hype.

I chopped and hung my last of the three plants today. It never did develop many amber trichs and it never got very big, but it looks "done", so I chopped it. The light, Spider Farmer SF7000, is amazing! The seeds from Pacific Coast Seeds are just pure garbage. If I could go back in time and trade them for bag seeds, I would have been better off. I've got three more going right now, different strain - supposedly, and only half of them popped. I've never smoked so fucking much just to get a little buzz in my life; it's literally shitweed, and that's because of the shitty seeds. Fuck these fucking fuckers.
