The sodium ballast is 600w my friend it will blow it up, just decided to not beat around the bush and shove my 600w in when the lights turn on at about 4, i'm going to monitor my meter to see how much it cost's me though.
I'm quiet excited to seeing my 600w hps in my tent for the first time :)

I have been recommended to have my 600w hps 1.5ft above the plant's is this legit information? i wan't to get the most lumens on the plant's as i can without burning them.

Here's a product description on my 600w bulb ;

SUNMASTER High Output HPS Lamps are High Pressure Sodium lamps designed to deliver more light than standard HPS lamps. This extremely energy-efficient plant grow lamp provides more light energy which is essential for optimized photosynthetic response. In addition to the extra light, Sunmaster lamps are dual spectrum. This means that they emit more blue light than a standard HPS lamp and are therefore more suitable for the vegetive stage of plant growth as well as for flowering.
How will this help? saying it being a sunmaster let's out more light than a normal 600w hps, is that even useful? when i heard 250cfl's use about 40 - 50 watts while letting out 250watts of light i thought that would have been great,

Just spent about half hour finding the box it came in lol heres the details,

It states these things
-Produces higher chlorophyll levels for greener healthier plant's? i don't understand this
-Promotes larger leaf area/mass
-inhibits unnatural stem elongation
-Encourages increased numbers of plant inter nodes
-Produces thicker primary stems
-Encourages early flowering
-Produces higher yields

Tbh some of them sound like exactly what a plant will do when under any decent grow light by ah well..

the rest of it is all just advertisement crap apart from one bit on the bottom could you tell me if this is good or not?

Watt - 600
Bulb shape - T15
Lumens - 90,000
Life hours- 24,000
Burning position - universal??

Needless to say the light turned on at 4, it is now 12 and theres whole new generations and my first "true node" has branched a little bit :)

Slight burn on smallest of plant's which only has 4 little leaves (pure ak)
had to move the hps higher i did by about 5 cm's + turned the fan back on

Yea just be carefull if you havent run the HPS before then you dont know exactly how much heat your going to have to deal with. I guess I'm a bit late to be saying that now its 2am

Your 50 or so watt light is not magically burning 250watts while burning only 50 watts... its a total paradox, it burns 50watts, period. end of discussion.

for two little plants 150watts ought to be "good enough". so if you wanted to buy 2 more of the self ballasted CFL's that's an option but I'm sure they are pricey too. 600 is definately overkill but it wont hurt them, but it might hurt your wallat.
sticking with the 50watt CFL... nope. you can sprout seeds under it, or use it to root clones. A plant simply wont grow fast or big under that much light.

whats the price per Kilowatt hour where you you live? 600+100=700x16=11200/1000=11.2x30=336 Your 600 watt bulb will burn 336 Kw/h in a month. Where I live that would cost me $27 canadian every month

It will only be 2/3 that cost during flower with 12/12

Yeah or less than 2/3's as about 70percent of them 12 hours on will be after 1 in the morning (the times electric prices go down as less people are using)

I haven't done the math with that as i am knackered but i will when i have woken up a bit but i checked how much electric was on my meter yesterday at 3 and i am going to check it again today.
Did you get my post on you're profile?

If you know how much a Kilo-watt-hour (Kw/h) costs you then you can multiply it by 336 and you will know almost exactly how much it will cost you to run that light during veg. during flower multiply it by 224 to get the cost. That is the cost per month

Yea I got your message. It's because your plant is being shocked from the sudden change in ppm, its not a good thing, I didnt think of that before. You should mix up a batch of nutes at half strength and pour it through your pots until you have an amount of runoff equal to the size of your pot. You should do that as soon as you can. You can then work up the EC 50ppm at a time.
Don't mess with the leaves, just leave them on until they are 50% or more dead(dried out) and then you should pull them off. They will never "heal" but the new leaves will be fine. Hopefully its not too severe.

Pictures?

Here you go dillest compare the tent with
Set up.jpg250w cfl:
Plant's beginning 3rd week of veg with no nutes( in coco ) and while under the CFL
Pots.jpgCandy kush.jpgWW x BB.jpg

Set up with HPS.jpgNow under the 600w hps to see for an improvement all of these pictures are named, these pictures are after the cfl pictures 5 day's into being given canna coco a + b nutes and 2 days under the HPS they have made a massive improvement in these 2 days and now look like this

My 4 babies.jpgPure AK.jpgCotton Candy Kush.jpgUnknown.jpgWW x BB.jpg

Looking forward to 10weeks time :D

Yes now that they have established a descent root system and some leaves for photosynthesis your plants will take off it wont take long for them to outgrow those pots my plants outgrow a pot that size in about three weeks from seed or clone

Just keep doing what your doing, wait until you start to see yellowing in the leaves then bump up the nutrients a little bit. Just don't push it too far or the leaves will burn up

With coco you should water more frequently. I try to water when the pots are about 50% lighter
Always make sure you get 30% runoff to clean out the salts from your coco

Still have that dosage at 400ppm mate at first the dosage gave some leaves a bit of a burn as you can kind of tell (sorry for the bad pictures) the ppm is not going to be raised till they are next watered i'm quiet annoyed fed them last night with ph at around 6.0 and my ph pen came this morning so next time they will be loving life.
I'm going to raise the dosage by 0.2ml's at a time so the next dose should be just under 500 i'm going to go easy on raising the nutes as i don't want any more nute burn or should i wait untill they go towards a slight deficiency? What do you mean a 30% run off do you mean let the coco dry about a 1/3rd of the way into it's depth?

The coco currently takes about 3 days to dry with 1l being shared between these 4 plant's so i'm assuming their roots are not very deep yet, i'm considering a purchase from the site sannie seeds which is a chemical you water with once and you're roots develop small hair's off of them which put nutrients into the normal roots which they would normally not pick up.
I am going to contact the owner first to see if this does only work for soil or if it will work for my coco.

Read sannies grow guide if you have a look on the website he has grown some really really nice weed and he has really cheap beans i said that 90,000lumens is a bit too much and it may harm my plant's but i don't mind it's better than the cfl it also safe High Pressure Sodiums cause plant's to grow extremely fast during veg and can cause them to be the slightest bit less bushy and a bit taller than normal and i don't want too much of that lankyness even though i have the room to work with so i'm going to try and counter act this by topping them ( i am going to do it just above the second true node but would love some advice as uncle ben's needs more pictures it confuses me.
If anyone can draw me a basic picture of the plants stem on paint showing where to cut and if any can explain when's the best time to top them +rep i will be topping a maximum of twice that is only if i get 2 main colas and not 4 as i don't want to stress them out or go too unnatural.

Here's an update on the grow, rather bushy plant's top leaves are healthy as hell, bottom are obviously bad from the nute deficiency from when i was stuck away from home
All of them
All of them.jpg
Cotton candy kush (the don)
Cotton Candy Kush.jpg
Here is where the leaves only half healed from no nutes for a week, Only the inside half of the leaves healed the edge has been left like this which i have chose to left, if i should cut off the bad ends let me know.
Problem with CK.jpg
Pure AK healthy mother fucker, alot less bushy though and slight nute deficiency cause the leaves to slightly curl up but i have been keeping that PH on 5.8 and it has been improving.
Pure ak.jpg
White widow x Big bud, slightly drooping leaves yet again i am working on that it has improved well since i have been back nuteing them.
Unknown.jpg
The one that i got the seed's mixed this is either WW x BB or Cotton candy kush although it is more the size of the WW x BB (less bushy) it's leaves have the same characteristics so not identifiable yet.
ww x BB.jpg

They are currently getting about 600ppm but it is being raised each day i want to stop at 650 - 700 but i will keep raising by 50 until i see some nute burns
I want a LB off of these 4 plant's so i think i am going to keep them in veg till the 1st of april and see how big they can get, i want to fill my grow tent make good use of the space.

Any tip's views etc... feel free to express

Oh one more thing, these are about 8 inches tall so if i veg till the 1st of april how much does everything think i might get from yield while under a 600w hps
