Hey everyone beginner here only my 2nd grow, both in soilless peat/verm/perlite mix. I could really use some help I lost 3 seedlings already! I had 6 seedlings going and now they get to be an inch and won't grow. 3 are dead and the ones alive are green, but have not grown at all and the sprouts were planted 2 weeks ago. I ph my water and added dolomitic lime and azomite and bone meal in the mix. I just did a light feeding of earth juice to see if it would help and nothing. My last grow was a great success but the plants were very slow to take off and I thought it was due to having them in a colder environment. I have them under a 600w mh at 50%, and covered in cellophane to stop transpiration, any help would be greatly appreciated , thanks guys, good day and good smoke!

I think you nuted them to death, honestly. Shouldn't you just use some water for the first couple weeks or so? Break them in to any kind of chemical gradually.

Yeah I only watered and just did a very light feeding 2 days ago to encourage growth because they have not grown in 2 weeks, so I don't think it's the nutes. I did brew a tea and watered before I planted to bring soil to life, but I don't think it would burn them.

Um...not trying to be an ass, but....didn't you say you added lime and a couple other things? I don't know if it applies to your situation, but I grow seeds in just plain tap water in a cube of coco fiber until they are around 2 weeks old, then I start adding nutes in my setup. Got any pix of the situation or did ya get it figured out?

You're growing in soiless medium, hydro, and adding all that other stuff to your babies when they don't need it yet, seems to me you've burned them, go easy with them they're just young sprouts, you should be adding a small solution of nutes gradually as they grow, go easy with them.

Up that 600 watter to full power, those plants can take a 1000 watts per meter easy. If it feels too hot, back the light away. Feed gently, make sure PH is correct. Good luck.

They're actually growing slowly now, but I think they were too wet, I checked the other pots and they were still heavy. I figured the dolomite would slow release and be easier, but I think your right it contributed to the problem too thanks. Anyone with expertise or even opinions feel free to post thanks guys.

imma make a prediction here.

the seedlings that died looked great, and then one morning, they just fell over at the soil line like they were chopped down by a tiny lumberjack.

correct?

cuz thats whats known as Damping Off. its the direct cause of death for many many seedlings, and is caused by too much humidity.

seedlings need wet feet and dry heads or they will Damp Off nearly every time.

lose the humidity dome, turn off the big light, and give them some gentle flourescents. if you have a blacklight, put that in the room too, about 12 inches from your plants (UV kills fungal spores, but not too much or youll burn your seedlings)

reduce your watering to the point where they dont droop between showers, but dont stay damp all the time.

a dusting with anti-fungal powder (for plants, not your foot cream) can help too.

Yeah I think you nailed it hahaha exactly like tiny lumberjacks. So what's the ideal humidity for seedlings?
