Police Harassment

So a couple of pigs (ahem) officers came by late at night and knocked on our door responding to an alleged harassment call. I called the PD the next day to see what it was about and it turns out no call was made. so my partner wisely stepped outside to speak with them. What's worse is that the officers were very intimidating and accusatory, making accusations that i or my partner were seen in neighbors' yards, possibly damaging their property, looking through windows, etc. One of the officers kept his hand near his weapon in a very threatening way the whole time he stood there. I called to file a formal complaint with the PD and told them about the officers' inappropriate behavior, and am getting a lawyer who specializes in civil suites. but the cops keep coming by, knocking on our door everyday (sheriff car no less). We do not answer the door, and they don't say anything like, "Police-open up". Just knock, wait (while I proceed to moon them and silently smack my own bare ass at them behind the door, alternating between that and lifting my top to flash :hump: ), and drive away. Am I the victim of police harassment? What else should I do? :joint:

I wish I could advise you with a modicum of knowledge, but I can't. I will say, though, that this sort of thing sure gets my husband fired up! We've had some dealings with local PD because of the girlfriend of one of my sons, and one day they showed up at the door and told me they were there to arrest him (he's 18, she's 15, LONG story). SCARED THE SHIT OUTTA ME! I called my husband at work and he came home and got ALL up in their shit. Told them to get the hell off our property and leave us alone. He does not care for the po-po one little bit and does not let them intimidate him.

I'm thinking you might want to see if there's an attorney who'll give you a free consultation, or maybe contact the ACLU (especially if you and your partner are a more unorthodox couple) for information. Knowledge is power.

this has nothing to do with being "unorthodox" or whatever; this has to do with my paranoid schizobitch next-door neighbor who is conspiring with her friends in law enforcement. The fact that there was no alleged "harassment call", and that the officer even mentioned his close friendly relationship with our neighbor shows that this is a conspiracy. I will be consulting with a lawyer who specializes in civil suites on Monday, I have already filed a formal complaint with the PD, and am in the process of writing letters to the editors of every paper in town, asking my friends from journalism school if they'd be interested in covering our story. I will stop at nothing until this harassment stops and these officers are put to public question. Look for me in the Supreme Court, because I am willing to try to take this that far, if it takes me the rest of my damned life.

Good for you. Glad to see that you're not letting them walk on you. But, be careful.

What is a "smell check"? There's no way they could smell a plant from outside. Not that we even have any plants inside (other than some dancing petticoats and morning glory)

no they don't. I believe you're referring to a public defender. Anyone has a right to an attorney, ESPECIALLY if they're fucking paying the douchebag.

Well, I didn't mean to offend. You mentioned "partner" and that's often a euphemism for your same-sex partner, and you'd better believe plenty of homosexuals get harassed for no other reason than the fact that they're gay.

Ahhh... I've had one of those. She decided that, because of my work schedule, my boyfriend and I were dealing meth from our apartment. 'Twas fucked, but also easily resolved, especially after she and her boyfriend got their skanky asses evicted.

To say the LEAST! I agree.

I assume you're keeping a log of all incidents, yes? If not, then try to write down everything that's happened, including your run-ins with the schizobitch. And good on you! Too many people just accept taking it up the ass because they don't think they can help themselves.

Damn, it would suck to have cops knocking on the door all the time. I'd be a paranoid guy.

Turn the tables and quit being a victim. Get some videotape or audiotape of them saying or doing inappropriate things to you. Then the fun starts. Forget the Supreme Court. Without proof you are just another paranoid complainer who will get ZERO satisfaction. Lawyers/cops hear from these people all day long and then ignore these people all day long. Bottom line? Get the evidence on tape and YOU hold all the power. Until then the cops hold the power and you are a victim.

We have evidence of a man who threatened to assault my partner (a voice message), and the sheriffs department has photographs of my injuries from the handcuffs. I also took pics the next day to show the visible bruising. I should probably see a doctor about the numbness in my fingers so I have proof of that too.
