I volunteer to pay taxes so speak for yourself
I like and agree with the sentiment you expressed when you said "speak for yourself". That's a great idea!

Applying that idea logically could mean this .... You contract with a security firm on your own or collectively with people who all voluntarily agree with you and then as an individual or a united and consenting group you make the best deal you can....without any duress involved.

Those who don't want or need the service you and / or your voluntarily arranged group want are free to "speak for themselves" and seek other alternatives without being forced into your idea. Everybody gets to speak for themself, peace is fomented. Win -win.

This sounds EXACTLY like what just happened in Texas. Who did they go running to when the power companies ripped them off? The same govt they were claiming they don’t need.

So you're dropping your speak for yourself" adage after just one post? Windmills? Where are your principles if they blow away in the wind so fast ?

More questions? Without even answering mine? Your analogy was EXACTLY what happened in Texas. It would happen everywhere in America. It would never work.

They were trying to save their unwilling taxpayers (like yourself) money by purchasing the “no heat windmills” :wall: It’s what happens when republicans run things.

If control of power production were decentralized, consumers would benefit. What you portray as a "republican issue" is a government regulation issue.

Choice is what happens when things are decentralized.

I am not sure what you mean by 'decentralized' in this case.

Regulation is obviously important after you see what happened in Texas when you leave it up to the companies.

I would love to see some better federal programs to help home owners further decentralize and harden our power grid though with a major push on renewable energy sources like solar panels on far more homes.

The problem with saying it is a 'government issue' and not a 'Republican issue' though is that the Republicans are the ones actually stopping the legislation from being passed to help us further decentralize our energy grid. The Democrats have been trying to help the environment since Carter and the Republicans have been trolling them about it ever since.

So does chaos, as in Texas, many of their utility companies are going bankrupt, adding to the confusion misery and costs.
You are an alarmist and frankly a little senile.

So you get to choose where you buy groceries. While government HAS stuck it's nose into private grocers business, they haven't to the extent they control electrical power.

All that chaos. all that mayhem. Quick regulate grocery stores!!!!!

Power and groceries are two different things, one is a public utility, you can't change water providers either. Don't be such a fucking idiot.

You are trying to solve a problem created by government, by applying more government. That will have unintended consequences.

Sun and wind are not partisan. Get government out of the way. "Federal programs" is not getting government out of the way, it's merely shifting who controls things. Let producers and consumers figure this out. Duuuude...Do you even solar panel ?

Texas got govt out of the way just like you suggested. And look at the disaster.

That’s how he argues. When he realizes hes losing he uses analogies that just don’t work.

@Rob Roy is it safe to say we agree that deregulation caused this power outage. And more deregulation will only cause more problems In the future.

Democrats want to regulate the power industry in Texas. Republicans think it’s fine the way it is and even intentionally set it up this way. So yeah it’s kind of a Republican issue

Republicans oppose regulations on anything EXCEPT abortion. That they want to regulate :wall: :wall:

people robbing you blind when you’re stranded with no power? Well that’s just the free market eh @Rob Roy?:lol:
It makes sense when solving a problem to get to the root cause. You didn't do that and clearly have a poor grasp of basic economics and what an actual free market is.

Government regulation can be a euphemism for "limited supply" , meaning they create barriers to entry into a given field and skew the market.

I could go on, but I fear your eyes will glaze over and you will start thinking about squirrels or what you watched on television last night rather than follow my monologue with any actual comprehension. I'll just sit here being smug, you just sit there and spout platitudes.

It's easy to generate electricity, if only people were "allowed to" .
