polyarcturus *5star* general thread

dont know why ive never seen it done. but i took the idea of a scrog screen with pvc but without the screen instead i used a under bed tote(zip tied up) and made a second level in my veg above my T5 since nothing is above or is supposed to grow over 30". so now i got 2x the room in the same tent.
 
sprayed avid last nite... didnt kill a god damn thing! no im kidding i dont know if it worked completely yet because it deosnt effect adults only the nyphs so i will probably have to spray again in 10 days..

got my spores today:) month of waiting pays off, got to re sterilize every thing and that will take about a day or 2 sucks but id rather have mycelium grow.

well i went ahead inoculated my jars for the mushies didnt get any pis :/ so it will have to wait till i check in them in a week or 2

this the type of shit that makes you want to smack a company rep in the mouth.

KENS KUSH is BULLSHIT UNTESTED strain and the male used must have been shit cause all the seeds where duds.... just because you did the right things with the purp and tried to do the same exact thing with kens kush, doesnt mean they are gonna come out the same. you know i understand backing your shit up to an extent, but if "convieniently" everybody is a noob then i dont know wtf is going on.. not to mention i got several other seeds to sprout and germ at the same time i attempted the kens kush and all the kens kush went into coco coir. not shit came up. all the other shit i played with in the coir came up.(couple of my seeds couple of bagseeds;tossed long ago)

all in all had i known the kens kush was such a bullshit strain i would have asked for GDP replacements.

you going to be covering the fungi in this thread? if not please shoot me a link im interested in growing some but would like to watch and learn a bit more :)

tent looks awesome as well i use a similar grow bag as your using. i got mine from greenhousemegastore.com at what i felt was a reasonable price.

now im gonna be "covering" i say that in qoute because i dont really get to detailed on what im doing unless acked specific question? but..... what would you like to know?

and as a little update. i did not re sterilize my substrate, upon recommendations of several people. they said to just inoc if i felt confidant my substrate(popcorn) was sterile after 4 weeks, i did. for got to get pic. but should have some soon, like the end of the week, you dont want to peek at mushies really its something you just pack away in the closet and mark the calendar to check on them once a week.. it isnt till fruiting that the fun begins :)

my method in a nut shell or rather my current approach.

popcorn substrate for germination

B+ and Golden teacher spores

bulk mono trays fairly small im not trying to produce tons of mushrooms but, enough.

bulk substrate will be vermiculite straw mix cased with vermiculite.

gonna be building a small chamber(1x2x1) for both fruiting the mushies and flowerin males. not at the same time of course. out of pvc and havac tape and velcro and poly.


like someone said around here before, mushies are 10x less work than growing MJ but 10x harder.
 
hydro store got em too. i got real cheap been reusing them for a long time, what i really want is some tall 6x6x8 or 10 square pots

i dont re use mine, just rim em open if i need to transplant or leave the dirt in them if im not going to. now that i have my indoor started back up not sure if im going to try and re use my soil or not, im leaning towards probabally not but not sure what to do with the spent soil.

i feel that man. i just took a ton of soil outside next to my garage by spring i assume it will have a more natural look plus i removed most all the perlite before i dumped it.

i used to advocate reusing soil.. but to do it properly really take space up so im dumping my soil from here on out and going with a basic proxmix types of soil with coir and inert shit mixed in to stretch it out. 40$ is all i need for soil really.

small 2cft bale of promix a brick of coco coir 2 bags of perlite a bag of vermiculite and dol. lime im good to go. also side note keep it dry it will last longer.(ps. im organic you dont have to "bake" you can inoculate(aact) as you grow)

i used my soil for 3 years but when it went bad it went bad :(
as for how i will dispose in the future? well im just gonna keep my pots small and try to run my perpetual correctly and just throw a small bag of trash else where once a week.


dont let you trash build up.. disposing of garbage bags full or dirts really sucks.

took a fucking month lol. some are faster than others, but these peeps are cheap and good people off of, mycotopia.net took a long time seemed they where having trouble with the comp... about the same risk a seeds though sent them to a friends house. but they arrived in good shape ready to go honestly i should have got pics cause my syringes where loaded with spores you could really see them well. but i left some liquid in each so well see if any chunks are left.

from what i read one syrynge can inoculate like 3 dozen jars, im going to start up a small shroom grow and when i do i want to try and inoculate my next grow with the mycelium(?) from the previous, pretty much a perpetual thing. i heard you can use that vermiculite instead of the rice cakes and knock a little loose and just dump it right into the new sterile jars.

some pics of the glove box/incubation area jars substrate all that jazz 2days in just took a peek and some pics no signs of growth yet but thats not unusual. oic of the B+ spore cant really see in the pic becuase its behind plexiglass but still enough to do 2-3 jars in case i fucked up :)
 
now using the popcorn method do you just dump out the corn kernels and they are loose or are they stuck together by the mycelium just like the vermiculite/rice cakes?
 
the mycelium will hold it together to an exent but thats not the point of grain, you shake the grain up and spread at the bottom of a tray, then put you bulk substrate on top or mixed in. then you incubate further, case, then fruit from the tray.

thats what im doing right now mixing the bulk substrate which is a mix coir EWC vermiculite and finely chopped stray
 
do you know of anywhere you can get spores fro regular morel mushrooms, non psycoactive? would be a nice way to get into it and the wife would let me grow them if they werent illigal lol
 
and mind you im not growing mushrooms to "trip" although that will be something that will be done lol. im growing these for medicine they keep my cluster headaches away for long periods of time. i plant on freezing and giving away most after i get my little 3g trip.
