Ha! Absolutely right! 'Murica is fucked for so many more reasons than our diet. But it proves the concession many 'Muricans live with every day. We, collectively, act just like a typical 13 year old kid. We think we are invincible, we can eat what we want, when we want, we can do what we want, when we want, without a care how it will affect others.

'Murica is fucked for so many more reasons than diet. A lot of which is political. The policies, or the lack there of, are driving this country backwards, not forwards. 5 to 4 Supreme Court vote decides to gut the 1965 Voting Act. It took Texas less than 2 hours to put forth and pass a voter suppression amendment, turning the clock back on that already backward ass state by some 50 years.

A short story.

My grandfather not unlike many others from his generation was a bigot and similar to his alter ego Archie, he had a kind heart and held shall we say, certain political views.

He was a blue collar man with a huge capacity for knowledge and followed that thirst with aplomb, gaining respect from all that he encountered.

When chance came to show him humility I was there as witness. For several months he had been talking on the phone with a gentlemen regarding some issues with the local political polices being brought forth and often said after such discussions, that he hoped to meet the man behind the voice.
When the knock came, you would not be too far of base in saying that my grandfather was acting like a giddy schoolgirl, he nearly sent my grandmother flying in his attempt to answer it. The man that came knocking, was dignified in his dress and manner, was polite in his responses and he was also black. Watching my grandfather come to terms with his own prejudices that day has been a big influence on my own outlook, for if a man whom I've known to be a "hard" man, was able to change in spite of himself then there is a chance for others...if they are willing enough to try that is.

Great story!! And it's obvious the apple doesn't fall far from the tree regarding the capacity for knowledge and gaining respect.

@ Dirtsurfr: when I lived in Texas they had the "Texas, it's like a whole other country" ad campaign going on. I always added "Yeah, Mexico". :)

For some odd reason I couldn't locate a tear after all this crying... this all seemed so fake and contrived. She testified under oath that she had said that word numerous times and now she said it once. Her story keeps changing and she needs to just stop and quit all this fakery.

Now the casinos are all closing her restaurants. It just keeps snowballing and she just keeps on digging the hole shes burying herself in. The strange "throwing stones, knock her in the head and kill her" stuff just drives the point home....time to retire dear. "I is what I is" indeed..... Don't go away mad just go away.

I feel zero sympathy for her during this interview, its more like this lady needs a vacation and retire cause she doesn't even make good sense.

She's made more than enough to live on the rest of her life, much more-so than she deserves. My wife is every bit as good of a cook (wifey is a certified chef) as her and can cook the traditional southern way. Seems that Paula has come to the proverbial fork in the road. God knows she's gonna pick it up and put it in her snout.

It's funny to hear people defend her and say things like what she said is "conversational language" that everyone uses. Not in my house it isn't. I don't keep company for long with those that are conversational bigots either. The thing I see alot of her defenders miss is that she is being sued and gave this statement under oath about being discriminatory in her place of business as well as her manager/brother Bubba. Yes that really is his name. I know people can change, I am proof of that. I'm a helluva lot nicer person than I used to be. There is something to be said for consistency though isn't there?

I'm honestly over this whole skin pigment garbage, I see humans, thats it~ If you still see colors when you look at people (2013) then i'm guessing you have yet to "evolve".. :leaf:

Hmm. The First Lady goes around the country on her anti-obesity crusade, telling the rest of us about the joys of a nuts-and-twigs diet.
The First Lady appears on Paula Deen's show, where she proceeds to scarf down buffalo wings, deep-fried-this and butter-soaked-that.
In a subsequent interview, Paula Deen points out the apparent hypocrisy of what the First Lady says vs what she does.
Now a story surfaces in which Paual Deen may or may not have uttered the dreaded 'n' word in an incident that happened MANY years ago.
Coincidence? I think not.
