Poppinsmokey's first grow - CFL's

Today was watering day as well as time to turn the plants, and of course move those lights around. The pH of my soil is usually about 5.9 - 6.0. As they approach needing water, the pH of the soil tends to rise to about 6.4. I pH my water according to the pH of my soil. These plants take about 4.0L of water every 6 - 8 days. The frequency of watering is a function of both feel, and temperature in the room.

I pulled a host of very necrotic leaves at the bottom of the plants. When I was doing this I pulled a bud leaf to check out the trichs (see pictures below). Do you see the single amber trich in the background (at least it looks amber to me :hump:)? I also managed to get a few good pics of two of the larger buds as well as a smaller one. I hope you all enjoy. I'd love to hear your thoughts, criticisms, questions, and of course I'll always take a compliment. :peace:

I don't know poppin. It doesn't look like its unhealthy, but the speed of onset is worrying me your buds are amazingly beautifull. Maybe the buds suddenly said give us the precious nitrogen! Could your plants be finishing early maybe? I could see a quick exchange of nitro happening biochemically if it was needed by the buds to finish up. I don't know but I would let the RIU community do the worrying maybe flush because you need too anyway if your going 8 weeks, and watch your handy work finish up. A little molasses or barley malt couldn't hurt and if their is a nitro def then that would take care of it. Good luck!

Well I pulled the suspect plant out of the closet and flushed it w/ a few gallons of pH'd distilled water followed by distilled water. I also harvested 10g of smallish buds. I quick dried 5g of it. The pH of that plant's soil is now 6.5. The other plant's soil pH never dropped below 6.0. I can't figure it out unless I made a stoned mistake on Thursday when watering bongsmilie???

Hopefully that will fix the problem; if there ever was one. If there wasn't a problem, I can't see how flushing and balancing the pH will hurt at this point. By the way, the high is great even with it being 2 weeks early and quick dried. I'll update the situation with pics in a few days. Thanks for input sicknasty. This site is a great resource to have available!:peace:

Thanks for stopping by the thread guys. When I started theseplants there were a total of 2 6500K 42 watt bulbs. At the peak there were 13 42 watters and 3 23 watters. After flushing this Saturday, I thought it was time to remove a little light so I took it upon myself to break a bulb in my hand . And then there were 12! (8 2700K, 4 6500K 42 watters)

These plants were started as seed. One was 3.5", the other was 4.5" when I started flowering. Currently they are 20" and 24" respectively. I'm making a list of mistakes I made and/or things I wish I had done a bit differently. I'll be posting this when I'm done in about 10 days.

Chocolate, my grow is a bit different than the one in the book.... It is a different strain. It is a slightly different grow space. I vegged a little longer. I'm flowering longer (about 7 days for so). However everything I'm doing or did follows the same logic or same exact process in the book.

Email, the trich shots are just shot by lining the camera up with the ocular on the scope and shooting before I move too much. If I took a pic today, you would see 3x as many in the field of view as there were last week.

I flushed both plants yesterday. This may be the last time they get water, but I'm going to keep an eye on the pH and whatnot. I'd like for these to dry out a little before harvest. Thank you so much for your kind words and help. Below you can see each plant, a few budshots, and someone asked to check out what I'm smokin with...so enjoy. Next to the pipe you will see an undried bud that was harvested on Day 46 of flowering.:peace:

I have no idea what kind of harvest I can expect. I've harvested a total of about 10 dry grams mostly off one plant. Those were mostly smallish buds. The bulk of the plant is still intact, plus another I haven't touched; so I'm hoping for just under 3 zips. We'll see; any result of good smoke is a good result in my book. My dog ate a little less than an 1/8 last night. I've got close to another 3 grams dry hanging right now to replace what the hound got high on.

A word to the wise if you have a dog that yearns to eat what should be burned put it up; for marijuana is not neccessarily good for your pup...peace

Yeah, he rarely gets into anything, but if some food is left on the countertop and we leave; it is only a matter of time before he figures a way to get what he wants. This isn't the first time he's done this. He actually tore apart my remote control carousel to get to the tiny sack of herb. This was the only thing he ate, and from a dog's perspective there was plenty of fun things to chew on in the same locale.

Seriously though when a canine eats herb, it can be very confusing to them. They don't know that they are eating this to alter their mind or mood...or do they? Many dogs will act out in ways that they haven't done before. Smaller dogs may vomit or have loss of urinary continence. Cats tend to tolerate the experience much better.

My dog is 90 lbs and this is not his first time. He ignores schwag, and puts his nose down to discover good smoke. I am leaning toward my dog remembering the experience and wanting to relive it. Oh well, at least it wasn't my joint that I mistakenly left out as has happened so many times before; and he did stay out of the cat box while I was gone. Now if I could just figure a way to get some manicuring shears in his paws...
