What do you think $10,000 for a loaf of bread will do to people who saved cash? To prepare try to become as self sufficient as you can, camp out more, buy some good tools. Learn Gardening, perhaps find a city plot to cultivate. Buy a Firearm, preferably a 12 Ga Shotgun and a variety of buck shot or slugs, perhaps bird shot if you don't want to kill, handguns would be a second choice for defense. First Aid and medicines will help. Store as much food as you possibly can, buy extra toilet paper. Water purification kit may be handy.
