Pruning plants with a bald spot on top-anyone else?

When I have been pruning lately, I've been removing all the big leaves on the top 1/8th of the plant. I've always heard to leave them since they catch the most light. That is true, but they also BLOCK the most light too. Kind of like if you hold your thumb up to a light by your eyes then arms length, To me it seems to encouage lower growth. Also the big leaves are less effectivce producers, so I've been told.

Anyone else do this or tried?

LOL It prob makes NO
difference but I was curious...

Yea I bought a $200 LED and a $100 hps when I started- tried both. LED is in the closet or growing clones. :)
