QB eyeball protection

Hey all, I'm pretty new to having legit equipment lol. I saved some money and got some sweet HLG lights I was super stoked until I spent some time under them with just regular sunglasses. God damn they are strong but now I am wondering what kinda eye protection I should invest in? I looked at glacier glasses they are a pretty steep price, but I only have two eyes. IDK what to get, welders goggles maybe? Method 7's? Snowboarding goggles? There are a lot of options out there and I have very little experience with this. I will continue to research but would love some input.

Not sure if you have googled it by I would like to know as well.

I have these and they're decent but probably not the best. I usually dim my QB's when I'm gardening under them for any longer than a few minutes.
Protect those eyeballs fellas.

Those are for UV blocking which isn't helpful in anyway. Those are green lenses.
For bright, white LEDs, you need to use any glasses that will limit the amount of photos to hit your eyeballs. Dark dark sunglasses, definitely make sure they're polarized, and the bigger they are the better to cover more surface area of your eye area.

I highly recommend Method 7's. I use them under HPS and they are wonderful. Allowing me not to miss anything under my orange light.

No shit. I was shocked with the HLG's. I can tell that I've already done some damage to my eyes. I was using regular dark sunglasses like HLG suggested, but could feel my eyes burning. I also tried a cheap pair off Amazon. Then I forked out the cash for the Method 7 939 ledFx, and am happier, but it still feels like I might be messing them up a bit. I try not to look at the lights, but sometimes I accidentally do. I also wear a hat with a hood to help. Next time I'm gonna run more lights, but turn them down a bit and see if it helps. So far though the Method 7's are my favorite though.

For my first 25 years of growing I didn't wear any glasses. Mostly HPS lighting, some MH. I regret not wearing eye protection as my vision has suffered. I would highly recommend wearing glasses with UV protection, especially if your lighting has significant UV like CMH, MH and some LED now. Even skin protection becomes important with long exposure to high UV lighting such as 10k MH ripening bulbs and CMH. I have a tan year round.

HID Lamps filter out all UV through the glass. Why do people still believe hps and mh produce uv?

They allow a little, the amount is determined by the coating on the inside of the lamp. I had some DE CMH lamps sent to me with no UV coating in them, wow they made a lot of UV, not a good thing unless you only wanna run them one minute a day lol.

Using proper coating there are lamps that have a dialed in amount of UV.
