QB96 Elite V2 w/ SSTX heatsink question

96 elites work great for propagation: 2x3, single 96,124w, 350 ppfd, 24/0.

Day 23 from seed pop, all clone mothers have at least 6 true nodes and 4 pairs laterals, except more recently popped trainwrecks and bottom left original glue.

3rd day acclimating to uva-b under single 24” 24w t-5 arcadia reptile light in reflector fixture, getting 50-60 uW/sq cm uvb at 12” for 15 min begin/15 min end of day.

Probably clone in 7-10 days for 288 vs 96 flowering smackdown.
Day 30 from seed pop - 288 vs 96 smackdown: Mothers (topped earlier at 5th true node, all stem fan leaves removed), 1/4+” diam laterals get cut in next few days:

Shooting for 50-60 ppfd clone rooting conditions:

“A” driver dimming allows for this:

That yuge blue peak makes these 96s fantastic for propagation and veg.

When checking temp/rh in clone tent, saw this reflecting off of dome:

So, i took a pic of the 96 and saw this:

So, i checked my mother tent and saw this:

2 separate lights, failing in same spot, not a good sign...

@Stephenj37826 and others, you seeing this elsewhere?

Bound to happen testing high wattage.
Is there any info stating how far one should go? Or maybe you guys are figuring that out now.?.
Plants are reacting great to mine I'm glad to see.
I'll keep an eye out too but I doubt it will happen staying at the factory set draw.

Odd.... You are the lucky winner of the first 2 failures lol. We will get you some new units. Email us at warrantyhlg@gmail.com

It really isn't a bad sign honestly. 80% of SMT problems come from the stencil printer. Those 2 failing in the same row indicates to me not enough solder (probably a clogged aperture) . These are made in the US for us. Our new line which is running has solder paste inspection after each print. Generally spi isn't necessary for leds. I'm not 100% what our contract manufacturer is using. We are using type 4 paste which is overkill for led.

Nothing to do with high wattage!

These two 96s were not used for mapping, One has been to 150w max, the other has been to 120w, then dimmed to 15w max.

Glad to hear you have not heard of this failure before. This was part of that delayed initial batch, so maybe it’s a bad batch or just outliers in the batch.

I am aware of other failures that hlg has replaced, here is another one:

Day 32 from seed pop: Made 6 x 4cuts/plant yesterday - original glue (3), jack herer (2), green crack (1). Looks like they survived the first 24hrs.

Culled a glue and a herer to make room for the two younger trainwrecks; trimmed up the older moms, just in case, until clones root.

Remember this monster?

13182B25-D0C5-4735-8469-99DCC6C78B65.jpeg

Tbone shuffle, is almost done harvesting it.

“I've already smoked probably 2oz's since I started trimming. I have 17 jars full and they're probably well over an oz per jar. Still have 4 or more oz's on the drying rack and 3-4 more to trim. It might be two pounds when I'm done total.“

Sorry for showing up late and for my ignorance on everything led but I need some help. If I wanted to run two of the 96’s in a 2x4 tent with active cooling on top of heat sinks and would like to run these as powerful (bright)as possible, which driver do you guys recommend? I am very big believer in putting as much light in small places as I can get away with. I would like to run both at 200watt output or maybe 3 lights at total of at least 400 watts in the tent. Thank you for your help

Go back and read the thread, contains mapping info for 1 to 6 96s at various heights and wattages.

You’ll find two 96s is plenty for a 2x4...running above ~1000ppfd, is not just a waste, it will damage your plants.

Read the thread sorry but I never saw or understood the answer as to which driver would be best for my situation. I will go back and look once again, appreciate your kindness

Just to keep things honest, you seemed to be asking about how many lights at what wattage...which seems you hadn’t already read about here...

Had you read it already you would have noticed, I used single hlg-240h-54A per 96.

And, that Hlg is selling pairs with:
B2080368-E6AB-45B0-A2C4-CFC50844205D.jpeg
Won’t get ya 200w, tho...

Decide how many lights, what wattage you are gonna run at, and how you’re gonna wire them (parallel or serial), then ask @Stephenj37826.

I appreciate the direction even though you have to call me a liar. I don’t wish to run a driver per light and the one they sell it with does not reach wattage I want. So looks like my questions were not answered by all 35 pages of this mostly rant between you and hlg’s business practices. I was very clear on wattage as well. Good day to ya

in a 2x4 tent you only need ~280-300w so you could get one hlg96e and a 240h-54 and call it a day. you dont need to run it any hotter. but if you want to get a 320h-54.
same driver if you want 2 boards in parallel, hlg240h-54a, or 320h-54 for hotter

pretty much any 54v contant voltage driver will power just about any number of these boards.

they are incredibly versatile.
