Question on venting for room

I have a 4'x4'x10' room in my basement that I will using. I have a 600 watt air cooled hood and a nonair cooled 400watt i may or may not use. I will be using a 8in vortex fan and carbon filter that can pull 490cfm of air and will use a passive air intake with a/c filter in front of it. What I am wondering is if I should drill a 6in hole for the vortex fan to vent the room air outside of the house or have it blow back into the basement. Also trying to figure out how many holes to drill for the passive intake. My reasons for wanting to vent outside is to keep the smell in the basement to nothing hopefully.

If your outside vent ends up stinking you can pop an inline ozone generator in the ductwork closer to the grow end of duct and let the ozone kill the remaining odor in the duct. Uvonair makes a great corona model. Use with aluminum or galvanized as ozone oxidizes other materials easily. Install after blower to prevent sucking ozone thru it.

Grab a 6" wall vent from hardware store to make it look factory outside.

Passive intake should total three times area of exhaust.

put that air out side. on a hot 90 degree day. it will make it stupid hot inside if not vented out.

I dont mind it smelling outside, no neighbors, but I read online that venting to the outside would create too much negative pressure inside the room creating a backflow. Although if i can control the smell then venting to the basement but outside the room would be nice so I dont have to drill through the wall. Also should it be one passive hole 3x the exhaust fan or a few holes?

One hole or many whatever works for you. Just add up total area.

Venting to outside does require air to come in from outside. Most modern homes have a fresh air intake/exchange integrated into the HVAC return & most older homes leak enough to allow for adequate air exchange.
