Questions about the taste of strains

Hey all,
I recently harvested a DinaFem Auto Haze and its a very beutifull plant and nugs but the taste/smell isn't anything like im used to at all. The buzz is great though. Im used to the skunks ass smell and the taste of those types of nugs. So does the weird insensy taste/smell come from the ruderalis or some type of haze im not familar with?
The smell smells like a grapefruity/kerosine/deisel/insense but the taste is just weird...Not what im used to tasting when I think of a fire dank.
So if anyone can put in there 2 cents on this topic, PLEASE DO.

I'm not a fan of the haze. The high is decent but mine tasted and smelled funky, like not sweet and yummy. Some here probably think otherwise but yes, it is different. You said grapefruity and I got that out of c-99, but the "kerosine/deisel/insense" is right on for the haze strains I've tried.
 
Had a range of "fuelly" plants over the years, some nice, light piney, then there have been a couple that was pure "fuel" ...way too much to taste like anything I want to toke on regardless of the high. Than you have those that taste/smell like your're smoking dirt..not good..some things I put off on ferts and poor flushing, sometimes on some heat, hell who knows.....I too reach for my cure jar with the little skunky buds......and save my tasty puffs for the fuel buds....
 
Yea i think if anything it's the ruderalis in the strain that makes it not taste great @ all...kind of a leafy taste i think.
 
So, What are some good strains that smell like you just ran over a skunk???? I have a few but am trying to find better. Right now I have super lemon haze for the first time (just started flowering 3-4 weeks ago) Ive never smoked it before but does it have any skunky smell to it? Ive heard its great shit.
The skunk like smell, Is that mainly a indica dominant trait or sativa or both??? Ive grown for a while but just recently started growing different strains and types so im in a kinda unfamiliar area when it comes to strain finding.

I think Shiva skunk is pretty rank , but my favorite skunk would have to be any Hindu Kush cross. like for example... Pot of gold, Hogs Breathe, Purple Kush & a few others.
 
I ended up getting Attitudes special on December 3-6 and got 7 freebies. Blueberry,Twilight,Orange Bud,Mekong High,White Widow,Skunk#11, all of these are dutch passion and i got 1 reserve privada Kandy Kush. Out of these how many do you think have that skunky smell/taste to em??? Ive smoked a hell of alot of different nugs but never really paid much attention to the names.

well,I would guess skunk#11 would be the real skunk , but you never know for sure. I personally would go with the kandy kush
 
I havnt heard much about the kandy kush, just what ive read on attitude. It does sound damn good though. Have you had it before?
 
Nope i have not had any kandy kush yet, All tho i have had both the o.g. & trainwreck I do love them both individually & think that kandy kush,seems like you couldn't really go wrong with that.

The o.g are you refeering to the Chemdog 91"???
 
I've had lots of different o.g. strains but, if your looking for a skunky O.G. cross then "headband" is the strain to go with...as far as the seeds you got for free from the attitude i would say go with the skunk#11.

Bubba Kush and the Exodus Cheese, for sure!
If you've not had cheese before... Oh man, it's indescribable!

EDIT:
Oh, and to me, the trainwreck isn't skunky at all. It seems to be all fruit/berry and maybe a hint of pine.
 
I dont know if ive had cheese befor or not but ive heard noyhing but good stuff about it. So, Is it pretty nuch Kush in generall that has the skunky smell to it?

I totally agree, a fruity berry citrusy flavor. Mmm
I, personally enjoy the floral, incency, fruit flavors.
But I agree there is something to be said about that thick potent skunk taste.:peace:
