Questions on First Grow

dopedeeii- My lights in the veg room are about 4" from the tops of my plants. I will probably be using 2700k cfls to flower because they keep heat and price down (my two biggest concerns). I will probably flower at 10" or 1', I'm not sure yet. And for topping, what does it do, and at what nodes should i top? Each plant has 5 nodes if you count the 1 fingered leaves from the seedling stage.

I waited till I think 8 nodes and cut back to right above the 4th. But at 8 my plants were about 6 inches tall. Topping just makes 2 kolas. Sometimes you get 4 main kolas.

Topping stops vertical growth by removing the apex grow tip it allows for more branching while new tips form and each. Topping will produce 2 to 3 tops so u keep it short but bushy only do this Max of 3 times

And I always top the apex grow tip so I dnt lose any of my growth that I already worked for or paid Edison for lol

I feel with topping a little lower makes the side branches I.e the 1st 2nd nodes etc. Will grow a little faster than the top point. So horizontal growth in scrog is easier to maintain. Just my way to grow... plants look good tho man

  • Heres a quick update. Ive stabilized the temps at 68-75F, and they have secondary growth at the initial nodes, are these growths going to be what i eventually take as cuttings (clones)?


    One of them is staying much smaller than the other still, but has the exact same number of nodes, and leaves and stuff. And for experimental purposes i decided to top the shorter one, however I'm not sure i did it right, kind of hard to tell in the pics. She seems to be stressed, but i think a few days and she should be fine. Can anyone explain what that brown sore-like spot on her leaf is?


    One last thing, since this is my first grow, its exciting to see cannabis growing right in front of me, and i just thought id share (what i think is) a perfect leaf on my larger baby.
