How’s it going??

So the grow room is finally feeling the affects of summer, getting super toasty. 90-93.

I have a 6 inch exhaust fan going,

I have not set up my 4inchinline fan yet.

I have a fake window set up they are exhausting out of.

Plywood with a curtain on one side( facing out) and a 6inch hole and 4 inch hole. Ducting for the 6inch exhaust is in there and working.
( have the window slightly opened so the air escapes)

Once i instal my in-line fan, should be exhaust fan be connect to the ceiling for optimal power? currently it’s on the ground and i feel like not doing much.

Then would i put my inline vent on the ground so the cold air is coming from the bottom ?

Thanks all

If your pushing air out and pulling air in from the same place make sure the out is as far away from the in.
On your plywood board I mean, try and have it so the warm air exhaust hole is higher and as far from the 4" intake hole.
You don't want that exhausted warm air to loop back in to your intake.

I know that's not what you asked but its something you can try and avoid for best results in that situation.

Yes totally agree. makes perfect sense

How big is the space and what is your total wattage and type of lighting? Is your intake pulling from outside or from the rest of the house?

If you have central air then it's probably best to pull from your house if that's an option. Also depending on your space you can only cool so much by pulling air out of the room. Might be best to use the 4 inch fan to blow in cool air from your house and just use the 6 inch for exhaust.

Uh space is a extra bedroom with a closet. Low ceilings in spots. Probally like 10x15 ft? maybe bigger.

I am going to use the 6 inch fan to exhaust the hot air, and a 4 inch to bring in fresh cool air.

I’m running the lights at night 5Pm-4am. Coldest part of the day. 1000 watt HPS and will have a 600 watt hps set up next week.

Temps are steady in the mid high 80s with lights on and low 70s with lights off. Humidity is around 40 when lights on and 45:50 lights off.

I don’t not have central air. Was going to be pulling from outside. Usually vermont’s weather in the evening in summer will be below 80 so should help. Most nights it’s 50/60.

Question-

I don’t have a hole in my plywood yet and don’t really want to do it when the plants are in there. Get fresh air from the downstairs?(temps are usually in the 60s and 50 humidity)

Is it practical to run ducting halfway down the stairs to get air from the downstairs? Is there a practical way to run flexible ducting on the ceiling of the stairs? Our house has like two sides and this whole side is empty and no one is ever on that side so ducting on those stairs wouldn’t be suspicious.

As long as it's not a security concern I don't see why you cant running ducting down the stairs. I had a bunch of nylon straps that came with tents to hang filters and I used them stapled to ceiling to hold my duct work. Since you have no central air have you thought of using a window unit? Could even be in the room next to then bedroom so don't have to worry about smell you could just intake from the room the ac is in

Just remember that long duct runs will reduce CFM. Upsizing the duct will help, keeping runs as straight as possible helps too. Using galvanized snap seam duct is best as the smooth walls flow better.

I just found about about those windows vent units for portable AC. I have another bedroom across from my grow room that’s also empty. Can either run down stairs or run to that widows equally.

Another reason maybe running to the other room might be better. Would probally be about equal length. hmm
