Quick Question about harvesting.

I have a afghan kush who is at 5 weeks flowering......when looking at her pistols they are reddish orange and from wht I can tell under the magnifier I see a mix of clear and cloudy and amber trics....I m thinkin she might be ready for harvest , but I don't want to take her down to early and lose possible bud mass if she is only had 5 weeks into flower...pls help!!!!

Just let it keep going. I have yet to see a plant finish faster than about 50 days . But if you post pictures of the plant and buds we will be able to help answer your question

I grow a couple different varieties that exhibit tri maturity around 5-6 weeks. Remember though -- you are probably looking at the most mature tris on your plant. Just because a few top cola leaves are ripe doesn't mean most of the plant is ready. Chop off the top cola then wait a week or 2 to harvest the rest of the plant. That's what I would do and then compare the early product with the later harvest. Decide for yourself. BigSteve.

Ok, I know I still haven t posted pix***have yet to figure out how*** but I went ahead and harvested her at 6 weeks......leafy buds when dried not much hard bud material , but still got 3 1/2 oz s off of a 4 ft plant **dry weight** however , I do have a question about early harvest and potency.......I have been a high grade smoker for about 15 yrs but this was my first personal grow.....the herb seriously is unlike any high I ve had previously it comes on every time like a panic attack....I have to do something productive or if I sit I sink into my own mind and become unsettled...could this be from a way higher lvl of THC versus other cannabinoids...wht Im saying is could I have gotten maybe a more tranquil couch lock if I had let plant mature even further before chop...or is that how homegrown afghan is supposed to be???? And after awhile of curing might the high mature and become more peaceful???? Any thoughts would be vastly appreciated.....thx! and keep growing!

If I remember correctly, the earlier you harvest, the more trippy the buzz. Later harvest for a more couch-lock experience. In most harvests, I take the top ripe colas and put her back under the light for a week or so and then take the rest. Also a big fan of the Boveda Humidapaks 62%. Best cure I've done.
