Everything we do past growing in the natural dirt and only using rain water is relatively an "expensive pain in the ass".

RO is just another level of quality control.

There are filters that reduce chloramine, the KDF85 Catalytic Carbon Filter which is an upgrade on Stealth RO and Small Boy is commonly used.

I have the hydrologic 150 i belive but i have the washable sediment filter in a rainfresh fliter housing before and the original coco carbon filter first, then i have a rainfresh 1 micron chorine chloramine carbon. Ive currently unhooked the r/o membrane as i kept overfilling my jugs as it took five hours and id always forget to shut it off before i went to work.

i havent changed the filters in my chinese stealthRO knockoff in over a year. PPM is 11 when it comes out. Tap water is 600ppm. Mine cost me $100. deionizer is a waste of time and money.
add 1ml/g cal mag every 2 weeks works for me.

yea I bet you get build up big time with that much stuff in your water. 400 is pretty high!
