SO, I called the electric/gas company about the overcharge on my gas bill because I saw no compensation in my current bill. The woman I talked to said my meter wasn't working correctly since last November. 
I had no notification until I was charged for an "estimated" bill and it finally identified there was a problem last month. I have a claim in now and I "should" see some kind of compensation within the next couple bills. The technician that replaced the battery in the meter read it manually and documented it so who knows what the final outcome will be. So much for a "smart" meter.

Yeah they pull this "estimated" bullshit with us. I'm dealing with it again now. The reader didn't read it and it got estimated now we owe. Fuckers did this last year too. I found out months later the the usual reader was out on medical leave and the replacement reader wasn't doing her job. They have our meters set up on some kind of WiFi network that sends the readings to the company electronically. The gas meter relies on a battery to talk to the electric meter that sends the readings, no other power source to the gas meter.Yeah they pull this "estimated" bullshit with us. Yeah, that's another thing. I pay extra to not have a wifi meter. Basically pay to have it read.......but they don't always

Don't know why but suddenly I feel I have to have a car window breaking (escape) tool. Never had the need to use one (or even close) in 60 years of driving. About 20 years ago we tried to break some junkyard auto side windows. Lot harder than you might think. Always thought a BFH would be the answer but submerged maybe not that practical. Anyone with actual experience in use?

There I was, minding my own gd business in a bar in downtown Ottawa, having an in-house specialty drink with a ginger mixture similar to a Russian mule but with whisky. On this particular night I preferred solitude, having been on the road for some time and far from home. That's when, out of the blue, a guy decided to join me and introduced himself as from Wisconsin. We shared small niceties including homebrew beer and distillation. It suddenly turned to politics, him claiming to be a freeman of the land or sovereign citizen. I'd vaguely heard about them but wasn't even remotely interested. That's when I mentioned that I'd heard that those that give up their freedom for security, deserve neither. He was clearly agitated by my contribution - didn't have the nerve to inform him who'd said that originally. I cited the need for a nature break, paid my bill and got the hell outta there. Education and entertainment failed!
With all his claims, I'm still bewildered to this day how he managed to get into the country. Weirdo!

Town I lived in had a major Westinghouse plant that manufactured thermostats. Any kid who's Dad worked there and had a "workshop" in the basement almost always found the pound or so of liquid mercury pop had snuck home from work.
