why are you going to re-use the soil? pro-mix with perlite is only 8.00 for 40lbs. and fox farm all organic is 18.00 for 20lbs. mix them together and you can fill a lots of pots. To me re-using seems a little silly, I mean do your friends know you microwaved your soil instead of droping 20.00? i am not trying to start an arguement here just curious.

It gets a little suspicious when I have a huge pile of top quality soil with perlite sitting in my yard.....The damn dirt builds up fast. I usually end up getting fresh soil but sometimes when I chop a male early or something I will just reuse the soil :peace::blsmoke:

dig a big big hole. i can dig a pallet of fox farm under in 6 hours.... with a bobcat.

this is a real problem. at some point it stacks up. best to dig a deep big hole every few months after a year or 2 the soil might be viable for another round

I re-use ProMix all the time. It works great. Just shake out the roots, throw them out
(or bury them). Don't listen to the people that tell you to dig it and bury it. I've been reusing mine for years and it works great. I use soluble fertilizer called miracle gro, and I work some bonemeal in with the Pro-mix, and I put in a bit or regular fertilizer to boot.

Add a little bone meal and dolomitic lime too; it'll be fine. Just for the record, you can't wear dirt out. You can deplete the nutrients but those can be replaced. It's best if the nutes can sit for at least a few weeks to break down a bit. They won't be lost and will be much less likely to give your plants nute burn.

I have been thinking lately about reusing soil. I have been dumping it in the yard and spreading it out. The neighbors must think I am nut spreading soil on the very frozen grass. After reading this thread and one other I am going to give it a shot.

What is all this talk about promix being cheap. I am paying $11.00 for a bag that fills TWO 3 gallon containers. Add in the 40 minutes there and 40 back to buy the stuff.. Its cost cutting time...
