Real heat difference between 400 and 600 watt HPS?

Hey, I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find any good info on this.. I've got a 2.6x2.6 foot tent (6.5 tall) that's heating up up to 98-100 f with the light on even with multiple intake and exhaust fans running.

I've got a 600 watt in there, because I thought I'd be able to get a cool tube / air hood and it wouldn't matter. But now I've found out there are no cool tubes that will fit in this tent available in my country. The tent was pretty expensive nonrefundable so I want to use it, just finding some way to manage these temps.

So would switching the 600 for a 400 make any actual difference to temperatures, dropping them at around 10 degrees f?

I dropped from 600 to 400. You say you can't find a tube in your country? What country is this? I have a smaller space than you, I think I would be able to run the 600 without excessive heat issues, without a cool tube a 400 would produce as much heat as a 600 tried, tested and proved by.myself!

I read that a 600wt is more efficient that a 1000wt. idk for sure i have never experienced that. but im about to start an experiment grow, with different lights, food,soil to c what happens.

You will get slightly less heat from a 400 watt. But what are you using for vent fans? What's the temp outside the tent?

50% more watts = 50% more heat

My 1000 W runs a lot hotter than the 600 W and it runs just a bit hotter than a 400 W if that helps.

What's the climate outside the tent like? Where are you venting the hot air to?

Mine is positioned near a radiator so obviously had to switch it off.

how about DIY?
hurricane lamps have round glass tubes you can use,
theres also breadmaking tubes that have been used by some ppl,
or you could turn a batwing into a vented hood, salvage the glass and sheet metal from an old microwave/oven.

the tent is way too small 400-600w hps best floor area is 4x4ft or 1x1m

sell the tent or keep for mother plant later

or as above make your own heat extraction unit,

outta cardboard and have a local engineer make it out of light metal cheap to do

I'm running 2 400s in a meter square tent 6.5 feet tall and hitting 99 f with two 6in in line fans when I had 1 400 it was easy to hold 83 f and it would drop as low as 73 some days

It's proven that a 600w will produce more grams/watt than a 400/1000.

Ditch the tent if you can or take the top off and blow the heat out. A larger tent would definitely help I have a 4x4, running 715 watts and can keep the temps around 80f for now with just a fan blowing into the tent... Outdoor ambient is in the high 20s and my lights keep the apartment ambient in the high sixties without the need for central heat lol..
