recessive and dominant traits observed

Ive read in a few places that there is no way to know if a certain trait will be dominant or recessive without testing out a specific strain, but I don't entirely believe that. There have got to be some traits that are generally more dominant in all cannabis strains. For those of you that have crossed two very different strains, can you tell me what you have observed as far as what would be more dominant...
1. Long Flowering vs short flowering
2. Tall vs short

Those two I have a gut feeling would be more "black and white" as to which would be more dominant/recessive. I do however, based on my understanding of genetics, guess that certain traits such as smell, taste, potency, and even color are more likely based on a more complex set of genes such as the color of our eyes. I would also like to know if anyone has personal experience comparing the offspring of a cross between two similar hybrids and a cross between an indica dominant and a sativa dominant strain and if you were able to notice a difference in "hybrid vigor"?

so i crossed a white widow, which was kind of a stretcher, and short flowering time, with an unknown male, which was was short, and a long flowering time. So far ive planted about 20 beans, and they have been short with a longer flowering time.

you won't know until you grow the test cross. the key is to first learn the parents you intend to breed and observe the obvious traits the phenotype possesses. then when growing the test cross, you can determine the genotype of the parents and better predict the outcome when working with that parent plant.
