Recirculating Under Current DWC Systems????

If you have access i would recommend the 13gal EZ Lok Storage containers.... those would be the ideal thing to use for these type of systems from what i found.. but they are a little more pricey than a 5g bucket... so that was the reason behind my descision.. I found the 13g online though just be searching 13g EZ LOK plastic containers and there was a site that popped up...

But that's only what I've read a few places over at THCF, I have no experience with 1.25" as I use 2".

Yeah we will see how it goes with the GH !-1/4" grommets... I think they will work just fine for my setup... I didn;t want to wait for the Uniseals to come in and i got the 1-1/4 GH Grommets for way cheaper than i could've got the 2" Uniseals... Nice set up tho man... I was skimming through a grow mag and stumbled on the cch20 ad and went to the website and was very impressed. I have always grown DWC, but prior to this system it was a stand alone system with a 24hr pump running constant circulation and had great results... this is def the most elaborate thing i've put together and i am keeping my fingers crossed for the same great results that my previous DWC grows have brought me... These ones will end up around 3-5ft for my grow height... Appreciate the input mann!!!!
 
If i remember correctly i had found the Uniseals cheaper on Aquarium websites that on the CCh20 website.... Those are most commonly used in aquarium applications...
 
What type of connector did you use to go from PVC to the poly tubing? Also, what size poly tubing did you use?
 
To go from the PVC to the Poly I used a T connector in the rear, then
I put a 1" bushing" in the T and a 1" to 3/4" barbed adapter. The poly
hose is all 3/4".
 
Thanks for the response. Where did you get the 1" to 3/4" adapter? I have been looking all over for them.
 
Wow i thought this thread was dead... I used a 1-1/4" Tee that had the 1/2" thread out the T and just used the 1/2" Barb Fittings and the 1/2 Poly Tube... which was all bought at Lowes!!!! And glad to report no problems at all Disposition84 on the 1-1/4" and them getting clogged or anything with the roots.... I know you had thought that could be a concern...
 
How long have you been running this system? Have you gone through a entire cycle, if so how large were the plants and roots?
 
well been running the system for a while now.. this will be the first full cycle on 12/12 but they will end up around 4-5' tall and the roots will have almost completely filled the bottom half of the 5g buckets... the root balls are massive... I went overkill i think though on the pump so that i think is helping keep me well circulated too... I got 2 in coco though as well and those are making me think about scrapping DWC/RDWC altogether....
 
Im using 1" tubing and the bottom of the buckets are full of roots. Im using a 1000GPH pump and it's getting the job done. What size are your using? Current Culture's 4 bucket setup only uses a 250GPH pump, that seems weak right?
 
yeah that does seem weak, but they are also using 2" pvc so maybe you don't need as much with the bigger tubing, not sure... i am using the 1-1/4" pvc and a 835gph pump that is working just fine...

How have you been doing with your PH and what do you keep it at? Ill check my PH on the hour and try to adjust it to around 5.5 - 6.0 to get a wide amount of nutes. My issue is the PH always is wrong, even if I add a little and check it an hour later. Any advice would help me man, thanks bro.
 
What up Thomas... Yeah that was one of my buds from a harvest a while back... Yeah i have to adjust the ph quite frequently... I noticed with this system that when i chenge the water and add my nutes that for the next few days the ph is hard to control and seem to be all over the place.. i try to keep it between 5.6-6.0.. after the few days is over it seems to stabalize and i can adjust it to 5.8 and it will stay right at 5.8-5-9 until i change water again. I check it a few times a day though... not sure what kind of help i can be on that bro... just keep checking it and try to keep it right around 5.8 if poss.... how many gallons of water would you say are flowing through your system?
 
I have noticed the PH floating up and down, but ill check it 3 times a day and get it dialed, just changed my nutes 3 days ago. The system is about 27 Gallons. The only reason I went with this is because it has a res on the system and I don't have to go bucket to bucket and change and break roots. What kind of chiller would be good to get for a 4 bucket system?
 
personally i am looking at just the 1/10th hp unit... don;t need anything too crazy because i think i am only running about 10-12 gallons in my system.... You gonna get a chiller Thomas?
 
is your res part of the RDWC System? or is it seperate from your system? I have a res that i keep full of just ph water with no nutes so that if they drink a little extra water there is ph water coming in to refill it and that way to it doesn't increase my ppm's and will lower the ppm's if anything... and that is on a float valve on my control bucket for the RDWC system... I mix all my nutes in the control bucket.
