retarding plant?

Ok so, my boyfriend got some seeds out of a bag not to long ago so we decided to give it a go at growing them need i remind you we dont have any of the proper lights, only the very basics (i guess lights are a basic but whatever)

Anyways, we started out with 4 and now we have 2 left, its been nearly a month now since we've started, a couple weeks ago one of the leaves on one of the plants started growing wonky, and since then it hasn't grown as well as the other.... now i asked one of my friends his opinion on it and he said they were retarding, turning into hermie's but iv looked all around the internet and i cant find any information about this when they are this young, maybe its not possible so early.
I also read somewhere that you can tell this by the fact that the stems are so so thin, my boyfriend thinks its because he fucked the light cycle the first lil while that that might be the cause of the size....

and i know i probably sound daft but i dont care, we didnt pay for them its our first time growing we've seen some really nice plants come through without all the fancy shit so before we went and spent an arm n a leg for some nice seeds we'd figure we'd learn a thing or two first. Any type of advice/information is appreciated, if your going to say were daft for not having the right equipment then feel free, but its not like i really care so its just a waste of time n effort really. Heres some pictures of them...... dont laugh too much :(

the middle pictures are from about 5 days ago, and the other two yesterday (4/9/13)

Your plants are stretching and looking for light. REpot them deeper add some decent light and they might reach the next phase. You would be good to look at small box grows. You will have to put a little effort in.

I had good luck in the beginning with a large box. Hung a 65W CFL in it and was able to grow a little something. I have recently started growing mini's. They are a blast for close spaces and small budgets. Fun too.

Yeah we realized that awhile ago because of how tall they got so quicky but we do have a light only a basic one at the moment but we are ordering some proper equipment just waiting to get all the cash for it all.

I dont know anything about growing, my boyfriend knows more then i do, but hes away on holiday for 2 weeks and left me to look after them, not saying i did this to them but its still abit worrying.

lol why you gotta call your plant retarded ... lol

I would put them in a 3+ gallon pot with a Daylight CFL light over it, or put it in your window the sun looks good. Make sure they get atleast 18 hours of light a day, and 6 hours no light.

hahaha, i dont call them retarted to themselves, dont wanna hurt their feelings. but its what iv been told, like i said i asked my friend and his exact words were "They are retarding, turning into hermaphrodites" :(

We live in england so the sun is scarce around here hahaha, one of our friends grew these plants on her window and they grew massive and spindly, so we were kinda weary on doing that, do you think it might help? and yeah we need to repot them :P

look a little overwatered. plant that small shouldnt "need" a bigger pot but it wont hurt and will need to be done eventually. Light is what you need most of all.

i had literally just watered them before the photo.

What about its deformities? is that because of not using the proper light? is it something to worry about? or should i just wait and see how it goes?

Pretty much if you dont get more light NOW and replant those stems you might as well kill em and start over when you get the proper equiptment. Not trying to be rude, just saving you guys from wasting time.

Don't worry about the deformities. It's just growing they will straighten out. It is not "herming". Refer to the "plant those stretchy stems sticky", get her into some better light..and yes 18/6 is where you what to be. Sexing will come in a few weeks.

If you are in a limited space, I suggest topping it. I have made a couple really cool mini's this way. They grew to a whopping 8-10 inches tall and are always 1/4oz producers. Very fun way to learn.

Let me clarify on the Bonzai technique since I opened it.. It is not ready to top yet.. Get it replanted, light, grow a few nodes with tru leaves and then consider it. What you do now is important to the outcome. If you have the space, try the 3, but I have a few small plants in 8" pots. There are quite a few options at this point.

some things that will help you out the most:

Use a CFL light and keep it very close, 2.5 cm, from the plant. At all times. Adjust the light(s) as the plant grows. Leave the light on 18 hours a day, 24 hours is fine too.
Put a fan blowing on your plant

Go find the ebook marijuana buds for less book. It will walk you through day by day seed to harvest. Tells you everything from when to water to how much and why.

retarding plant?
Retarded post. Also retarded friend who knows nothing about growing. They will be ok looks like a heat issue or too close to the light on that side. One more thing why are stem and cones attached to them?

You definitely will need more light. Just go to Walmart or something. I picked up 4 23w input 100w output CFLs for almost a dollar a piece. Invest a few bucks into some pH testing strips at your local garden shop or other various general merchandise stores. You'll want the pH to be around 5.8-6.3 but don't go above 7. Like Medical Grade said, keep the lights as close as possible without burning, this will allow as much light as possible to be absorbed and used by the plants. Try to acquire a small fan and turn it on a low setting just to strengthen the stems a bit. Good luck!

You growing is "a waste of time N effort". If you'd read anything on this site you'd know your not going to get results without proper lighting and care.

I agree. You need to do some research and plan things out before you jump into it. Like the saying goes, "Fail to plan, plan to fail".
