Rhino's in the wild & scrogged indoors

Ok, sOoooo I hooked up the 1000 watt HPS today and hung them 30 inches above the screen. Only giving them 6 hours under today to adjust then the full 12 under from tommorow until the end. I must say seeing a 1000watt HID bulb in action is pretty impressive. The ballast runs cool to the touch as well. Gonna take a few days to monitor the temps, but I am loving this thing already. I think the next step is to try and build a room in the basement strictly for this thing and run a perpetual SOG with multiple strains. I have 5 different genetics and looking into a few more....Anyway, I now see why people drool over HID

My camera didn't pic up on it too well and I can't find it browsing through the RIU attatchment option, even though its on my comp... but it is super bright in there. I will take some more pics right before the lights come on tommorow.

Temp is holding steady at 88 degrees with 56% humidity. Anyone forsee this as a major issue?? or will they just want to drink more often? could prob raise the light another 3 inches if needed.

The weather has been crazy the past week here..looking at 2 weeks of full sun coming up:hump::hump::hump:, getting excited for a major growth spurt. Enough blab, here are the goodies.

Been super cropping every visit, no fertilizers other than mixing in some organic blood and bone meal in the beginning.

These are the pre-teens.. I will post the big mommas next

Hey Dr. glad you stopped by, should have an update on the indoor, plants are taking very nicely to the "sun". I didn't quite veg long enough to fill the screen, but you live and learn, plus I just needed something to finish be4 the outdoors comes down. Any idea what kind of pest damage that is on the 5th picture in the Big Mommas post???

not sure bro... spider mites maybe? just a guess though...is there a webbing that is visible on the plants?

thrips maybe?? whiteflies??
I'm clueless bro... sorry

No webs, this was only present on about 4 leaves on just 1 plant. Everything else looked really healthy. I am kinda clueless on the outdoor pests. Will keep an eye on it though in case more leaves are affected next time.

Hey doc, thanks for the heads up, I got a hold of him in his gallon of gas thread. He said to leave the outdoors to handle themselves. If it isn't getting enough light it will die off on its own. Nice to have these season veterans around to help us greenhorns out

The girls have been under the 1000 watt HPS for almost a week now and the difference is outstanding. It is amazing what an extra 40,000 lumens can do for plant growth.

Enjoy!! And just a side note for anyone following along. Putting a scrog setup on casters will make everything much much easier, especially if you are in a closet or tight space that doesn't allow access on all sides. Mechanics creeper solved my problem in under 5 minutes.

hey friend, ive only grown scrog, and man im tellin you next time you may consider having individual pot/screen setup. i had 4 under one big screen in a cramped space and i really had to contort to water and trim. trimming most of the under growth away is essential to direct energy to buds instead of the dense bush below. i thought, if i could only spin the the things around and trim, it would save time and energy. my screen was attached to walls so there was no movin anything around.. dowels at each corner of a single square planter with 1' square screen on top seems to be most practical. just some friendly advice. good luck bud

That is a great point you have. I initially started with 3 under the screen and pulled one out before switching to 12/12.. just foresaw a problem once they started to stretch. And if you take a look at some of the earlier pics, you will see that I have put the entire screen system on wheels. I just pull the entire thing out from under the light and can access all sides easily. I will try to take some better pictures showing this.

Hey erkelsgoo, thanks for stopping by, I will try to take some better pictures of the entire setup for you. My camera has trouble with all of the excess light coming off the 1000 watter. But i will try to give you and written explanation and then post pics.

1.)I took a "creeper" that car mechanics use to work under cars. Heavy duty casters and 2X4 frame would work just fine. Just happened to have the creeper laying around.

2.)I placed a piece of 3/4" plywood on top of the creeper so that I could screw in the vertical supports for the screen. This also provides a nice flat surface to place my runoff tray on.

3.) I screwed scrap 2X4's on each corner of the sheet of plywood to provide a good anchor for the vertical supports.

4.) Just used scrap 5" wide fencing pickets cut the the appropriate size for the vertical supports. Once each support was screwed in place I added braces connecting each vertical support.

5.) Screw the screen in place on one end, stretch the other end taught and tack it in place.

That is exactly what I did, you could modify these instructions according to your plans... I 'll go take some better pics for ya!

props on the creeper idea.. hey i know this is not the place, but i cant figure out how u get the little quote/disclamer thing at the bottom of my posts. is it somthin u earn? i suck at computers please help.
