RIP the Notorious RBG

The troll in the room though is that you are acting like the Democrats should not throw this in the faces of the Republicans. Especially because they are completely ignoring a dying woman last wish and completely showing themselves as full of shit for their 2016 withholding of our first Black presidents pick 9 months out from the election day, when currently voting is already taking place.

And I am actually coming to think the entire point of this is to paint a narrative that the Democrats have any ability to stop this what so ever, so you are basically saying they shouldn't be able to complain about the obvious double standard and moreover have another lifetime appointment for the a POTUS that is facing charges for his criminality once he is no longer in office.

If Trump appoints a legit judge (thinking he should do the latino judge in Flordia for political reasons), the Democrats should ask the tough questions and if the candidate ends up being not a troll, they should nominate them.

But I think it is going to be tough for Trump to not appoint a troll who he has something on so he can have a hope of them voting his way if he loses the election and sues it up to the SCOTUS to try to not face those charges Mueller said are waiting for him.

It really doesn't matter though, Trump lost the popular vote, and will lose it again, and has done nothing but stuff judges and 'acting' cabinet further demonstrating the tyranny of the minority that the Republicans have thrived on for decades.

well right now you've got two 'no' from colllins and murkowski and guess what that says?- what they're telling everyone?- Trumpy* is done..Alaska and Maine stand firmly behind this by making the announcement way before the debate can even happen. they just shut that shit down.
Maybe, repubs have 54 votes in the Senate by party, not a lot of wiggle room.

All I have done is point out an obvious and entertaining case of both parties instantaneously switching their positions. Funny as hell to me. Dems can do whatever they want and of course I expect them to do whatever they can to stop RBGs seat from going conservative. But let's not pretend that they did not switch positions overnight on this. You can't have it both ways and say the dems were right in both cases when their positions are 180 degrees opposed. But I am entertained by weedthief trying to do that!

To be clear, your acting like the Democrats can do anything about this, and pretending like it is the Democrats pointing out the clear hypocrisy is them 'changing' positions, is the troll.

A dead American icon's last wish is being ignored by the Republicans and Trump who are going to stuff another SCOTUS judge when they clearly have a criminal appointing judges is not the same as a mile.

Bullshit. The hypocrisy in this case is owned exclusively by the Republicans and if you can’t see that, you’re a fool.

Yes, we know. You’re easily entertained.

The whole point is timeliness.

In Obama's case, he nominated Garland in February.

Typically, it takes 10 to 12 weeks to properly vet and hold hearings and confirm a justice.

So in Obama's case there was plenty of time to proceed with his nomination without it interfering in the election.

But Republicans didn't care. They refused to do anything simply because they could. Honor, integrity and public service don't exist in the GOP. They're simply corporate stooges doing what their corporate masters order them to do.

But here we are at 6 weeks before the election with both campaigns in high gear and they want to cram one in?

Not only is it hypocritical beyond the pale, which is nothing new for the GOP, but it's reckless in the extreme as no proper vetting or interviewing can be done in that time frame.

The GOP once again shows that the last thing on their minds are the American people.

They serve their corporate masters and nobody else.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on the Supreme Court vacancy created by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (all times local):

12:20 p.m.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff says President Donald Trump has reached a “new low” for suggesting Democrats were behind a report that the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said she did not want to be replaced until a new president is inaugurated.

NPR reported Friday that Ginsburg dictated a statement in her final days that said: “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”

Ginsburg dictated the statement to Clara Spera, her granddaughter, according to NPR’s Nina Totenberg, who has covered the Supreme Court for decades but is also a longtime personal friend of the late justice.

On “Fox & Friends” on Monday, Trump claimed without evidence, that “I don’t know that she said that, or was that written out by Adam Schiff and Schumer and Pelosi,” referring also to Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Schiff later tweeted: “No, I didn’t write Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s dying wish to a nation she served so well, and spent her whole life making a more perfect union. But I am going to fight like hell to make it come true. No confirmation before inauguration.”

Ginsburg, 87, died Friday from metastatic pancreatic cancer.

The body of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will lie in repose at the Supreme Court this week, with arrangements to allow for public viewing despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Ginsburg’s casket will be on public view Wednesday and Thursday under the portico at the top of the iconic steps in front of the building. A private ceremony will take place at the court on Wednesday morning.

House Speaker Nancy Pelsosi announced that Ginsburg will lie in state in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall on Friday. That ceremony will be open only to invited guests, Pelosi said.

Ginsburg will be buried next week at Arlington National Cemetery in a private service, the court said.

The justice died Friday at age 87.

Congress made similar arrangements for a public viewing outside the Capitol after Rep. John Lewis’ death in July.

8:56 a.m.

President Donald Trump says he’s narrowed his list of candidates to fill the Supreme Court vacancy created by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to four or five candidates.

In a Monday interview with “Fox & Friends,” the president confirmed that among the top contenders are Indiana’s Amy Coney Barrett and Florida’s Barbara Lagoa, both appellate court judges he appointed. Trump also indicated that Allison Jones Rushing, a 38-year-old appellate judge from North Carolina, is also on the short-list.

Trump has promised to nominate a woman for the high court, adding that his preference is for someone younger who could hold sway on the nation’s jurisprudence for potentially four or five decades. Trump says he’ll aim to announce his pick on Friday or Saturday, after funeral services for Ginsburg conclude.

Trump adds: “I think that would be good for the Republican Party and I think it would be good for everybody to get it over with.”

President Donald Trump says he expects to announce his pick for the Supreme Court on Friday or Saturday, after funeral services for Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

He told “Fox & Friends” on Monday that he had a list of five finalists, “probably four,” and that he is pushing for a confirmation vote before Election Day.

Trump disparaged reports that Ginsburg had told her granddaughter it was her wish that a replacement justice not be confirmed until the inauguration of a new president. Trump said he thought his Democratic political foes were behind the report, including Rep. Adam Schiff, who led the House impeachment probe, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer.

“I don’t know that she said that, or was that written out by Adam Schiff and Schumer and Pelosi,” Trump said. “I would be more inclined to the second ... But that sounds like a Schumer deal or maybe a Pelosi or Shifty Schiff.” his nickname for the California congressman. Trump frequently disparages Schiff, without evidence as being behind a conspiracy against him.

Maybe, just maybe we should all just step back for a moment and consider what the discussion is about: The Constitution.
Let's get a perspective on a different point of view to make sure we consider both sides of the coin. Trump is actually going to throw the election in order to get that appointment.

As soon as Mitch gets the appointment he will throw Donald under the bus after the election, his usefulness is over. I'd look for a post election Trump impeachment if the democrats win big and it looks like they might, Joe might get 400+ electoral votes, the senate majority is gone along with the filibuster and the dems will pick up another 30 seats minimum in the house. Once they win then serious changes will happen to make sure they keep winning for a decade starting with H.r.-1 and next year is redistricting with many state houses up for grabs.

Donald shattered the solid south, Florida, Texas and Georgia, the big three red states are battleground states now and there are 3 GOP senate seats among them. It's more than this election though, Trump killed the republican party and poisoned them for a generation. In 10 years demographic changes will do the rest, old Dixie is dead, but still walking.

Ya, and when you consider the hard time Florida has counting votes it will be a difficult situation.

They count mail in early and the pundits say we might know how Florida turns out on election night, if Trump loses Florida the TV networks will call it, game over but the whining.

The only solution to this that I can see if Republicans successfully confirm another justice is stacking the court the next time Democrats take control

If you don't support that or you think that's too extreme, I don't think you're fit for the fight. Republicans take power by any means necessary. They break the rules while Democrats stand by them and continue to lose.
