and yes... when i say filter... i mean a piece of thin cardboard rolled up at the end.... not a cig filter... wtf lol....

i guess things are different across the pond and in the us...

A roach and a filter aren't the same thing.

A filter is the kind that come on ciggs.

A roach is a piece of cardboard rolled up and stuffed
in the end of a joint to keep the weed from getting in

your mouth and so the end of the :joint: doesn't
get all soggy and close up while you're smoking.

A roach doesn't give you resin lips like filters do.
Thats why after I tried it a few times, I just

decided to stick to roaches.

Like I said it just depends where you live. I've never heard of anyone using those cotton cigarette filter things for weed, but I've heard people call roaches filters, and I call them tips, and you obviously call them roaches, it's just where you're from. Like the difference between smoking a spliff and a joint.Cigarette filters = big no no.

A roach is just to keep the top of the spliff open so you can get a better higher quality pull off it, it doesnt filter it therefore not a filter.
You can buy packs of filters, they are just like the filters on cigarettes, and paople do use them in joints nearly every headshop sells them so to me a filter and a roach are completely different you no. And as i said earlier filters are for pussies.

dont worry ganja, filters and roaches are synonymous where i live too. i never use the term roach. sounds trashy. makes me think of smoking an insect

No they don't filter anything, they are just called that because they are in the same place on a joint as a filter would be in a cigarette.

Obviously not everyone because the title of the thread is:"Roll Joints with or without filter?" I personally call them tips, when I think of roaches I think of whats left over from a joint without a tip. Where I'm from a roach is the last bit of a joint that's been ashed but still has weed in it. A filter is a narrow strip of cardboard rolled up and used to keep the top of the joint open. It just depends on where your from. Same thing with the "cone vs bowl" thread I seen somewhere. I always use a "filter" because I don't have to worry about getting weed in my mouth...and no matter how tight a joint is rolled, it still happens every now and then. Without it I always have to be careful not to slobber too much, close my lips to hard, or get weed in the mouth.

Also I wont smoke a joint with someone else unless there is one. Passing around a wet, soggy, joint with a flat tip that can't smoke isn't my idea of fun....

I've smoked hundreds of joints and have yet to taste cardboard in any of them. Smoking them right down to the filter each time, you get all the weed and don't have to run and get the bong. The filter doesn't take up much room either. It's not like you have to make room for it. Just roll a normal joint and shove it in the end. If anything it just makes your joint firmer...

The way I see it...the 30 seconds it takes to make and use filter/roach is worth it when you can just smoke it without the need to make sure the tip doesn't stick together or run to get the bong when you get down to the last bit... My opinion anyway.
