The house and detached garage/shop i’m building will be stucco exterior, metal roof. Never did a metal roof before but i’m sure i’ll figure it out i aint scared.
No soffit eave vents, all the ventilation will be from the ridge and roof vents, I had the plans engineered that way. I don’t want this next house to burn down. Fuck embers! My last house, which I lathed, had vent screed with the fireblock insert in it. Didn’t stop the house from burning down, but still gonna do everything I can to make as fireproofed as i can.
Pics to come. Plans are submitted. Can’t really do shit yet anyways because it won’t fucking stop raining long enough here in NorCal. :-(

Yup.

All new homes built in Ca have to have fire sprinklers.

Funny bro. I just asked my plumber friend after having asked my plumber brother the same question. Both are union plumbers, my friend is more pipefitter. I asked them if they’ve ever done residential interior sprinklers and both kinda laugh and say no but it can’t be that hard.
It’s kind of the same thing as when someone asks me if i do t-bar ceilings because I do real suspended ceilings.

So basically, i’ll figure it out. Def not gonna pay a contractor though.

They are easy to put in. You can learn that just from youtube lol. The only thing is if you're getting it inspected, the inspectors are pretty serious about it. So if you do it.. Do it perfectly lol

Only thing i’m planning on subbing out is the stucco. I don’t know any plasterers nearby. All my plasterer buddies are in the bay area. I won’t even bother asking favors from them.

Roofing is easy if you have a good back lol
Anytime our family, extended to distant cousins as well, have needed roofing work everyone pulls
together to get things done.

Over the years it has become a finely tuned process, everyone works smoothly together.
Very little direction is needed until a new teen member joins to learn.

At 78 my Dad made the decision NOT to climb the ladder again. "I'll keep things running down here,
you worry about what happens up there". Not a nail was missed that day.8)
