Roots Organics Nutrients (Master Feed Schedule) vs General Organics (Full Lineup)

Hey everyone,
I am currently in between nutrients, I was using the Earth Juice 5 pack (Grow, Bloom, Catalyst, Meta-K, and Microblast) but i am not too fond of them, Not grea results. I have narrowed it down to the RO Master Feed Schedule (Grow, Bloom, Amino-Aid, Extreme Serne,Ancient Amber, HPK, HP2, and trinity), or General Organics (Bio Thrive Grow, Bloom, Bio Root, Bio Weed,CaMag+, Bio Bud). I am using 40% FFOF, 40% Pro-Mix BX, and 10% perlite as my medium with White Widow, and Myco-Madness as my Mycorrhizal for the roots. What do you guys think is a better choice? Anyone got any Pro's or Con's on either? I need to make a choice asap. Much apprieciated to anyone that can help me out.

I use the master feeding schedule for roots organics and the end product comes out fantastic......true you could just by all the organic supplements separately and administer them precisely but the products from roots organics are high quality and make your job a lot easier....I use that for anything in dirt and botanicare for my Aeroponic system...the only thing I do different on the master feeding schedule is use Great White Mycroz instead of roots version and you definitely want to adjust the strength that you deliver to your plants based on their needs.....the schedule is a guideline, some plants do better with a lighter dose and some with a heaver dose...

I also have Roots question, just switched from Humboldt to Roots , but what is Roots equivalent to Humboldts Honey ES? or just add straight up mollasses?

I'm new on here, and not sure if this is the correct thread to ask this on but I was wondering if anyone has mixed organic and non-organic nutrients together...the only reason I ask is because I'm low on money and just happen to have plant foods that if mixed would add up to 10-30-21 NPK....if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.. the plant food brands are Shultz 10-15-10
And Burpee 0-15-11

I have never personally used the GO Bloom and Grow. I have used the Cal Mag, Diamond Black, BioRoot, and Bio Bud. I love almost all of these. I never really did notice any difference when using the Diamond Black, so I took it out and just started adding some forest humus to my soil. The other products are very consistent and easy to use. I personally would go with the GO nutes myself. But I like a system where I can come in and mix a batch of nutes on the spot for what my plants need and go. From what I understand the RO grow and bloom are best used if mixed and aerated for 24 hours. This will help balance the pH. If you just mix and add, I have heard of some people having pH problems from this. Ultimately the choice to go with my system and not RO came down to the fact that I did not want to mix my nutrients 24 hours in advance and aerate it. Also, I know a lot of people that use GO or use some of their products like I do, and love them. I basically took the best things I found from Botanicare Pureblend, BioCanna, and GO and came up with my own system. There were things between all 3 that I liked and some that I did not.

That being said, I do use some Roots Products. I love the HPK as a bloom booster towards the end of flowering. Study the facets of each system and figure out what makes sense to you and would be the easiest for you to use. Like was said earlier, the nutrient charts are just a guide. Start with what they say, but if you see some plants need more nutrients and others less, don't be afraid to adjust it. Organics is about reading your plants and letting them tell you what you need to add. I have a White Rhino strain that will take everything you give it and ask for more. Typically I run about 1 tsp higher on feedings than any other plant I have.

If I have a new system I am trying out. I normally will take 5-10 plants and start 1-2 plants and each following week, I start 1-2 more and follow the system. Your first couple plants will be your testers. If you are okay in weeks 1 and 2, but start having problems in week 3, you need to adjust to correct on the plants that are a week or so behind. This was a pretty easy way to find out what my plants liked and didn't, and it was cool seeing how each adjustment affected the plants. I started put 5 NYC in 1 week apart, and the first two were really good, but by the time I got to the third plant, the system was tweaked and adjusted and the NYC came out phenomenal and finished 2 weeks earlier. /shrug.

And as for the question, I would say not to do it. Some people say you can. Fox farms does it with there tiger bloom and grow big being chemical based, and the Big Bloom being organic. I hate it. Personally I don't think it should be done. The way the nutrients are taken up and break down are completely different and I've seen a lot of funky issues come up with FF nutes. I started with it and changed after about 4 months of problems. I think pHing an organic system is not a great idea. If you keep your bene colony happy, you don't have to pH. But when you add chemicals 1. they can kill your microbes. 2. pH solution definitely kill off your microbes. If you have no benes to help break down your nutrients for organics, you can get serious build up, nutrient lock, and your plants can die. I've seen it happen too many times to want to keep using FF products.

Mahfukinbirdmanjunior. Good post Birdman, I agree almost completely. Thought you were going to teh cup?

I've been using the GO line for a while now. It works well, you do have to feed fairly heavy depending on strain. It's nice because you don't pH, just mix it and go with it. I get good results using a somewhat customized soil mix and GO nutrients, I don't feed at all during veg, just what's in the soil. Great finished quality, clean burning buds.

As to mixing chem/organic; why? In general chem based nutrients are not very supportive of soil life (urea nitrogen excluded*), and the principle ways in which they "feed" the plant are very different. Organics need to be broken down in the soil by microbes to be of use, while nutrient salt buildup doesn't encourage soil life. Go one way or the other.

I have used HiBrix Molasses in the past. It is good. You just have to use it in small amounts. Adding too much to your soil will cause build up and lock out . I only add a bout 1tsp MAYBE 2 before I final flush with an inoculant. Don't use too much, a little goes a long ways.

I recently started using Humboldt Honey and love it. I wouldn't switch that if there was something comparible on the market (which there is not, at least in my market.) Its base is a pure cane molasses. It also has Yucca extract, kelp extracts, quillaja saponaria extract, ocean fish, and refined volcanic ash. Basically it gives you a sweetner, a sugar for your microbes, and has a bunch of other benefits such as enhanced growth, enhanced immunity, enhanced resin production, in return it also enhances smell.

Let me break it down for you scientifically. Basically, if the best shit for oil production met the best shit for smell - and they had a baby. And then, meanwhile, that crazy sugar shit that the plants love and the crazy sugar shit that the microbes love met and had a baby. And them by some miracle, THOSE two babies met and fucked - Humboldt Honey would be the shit they birthed.

So ya... Why use molasses when you can use its kick ass grandkid?

I am thinking Trinity might be what you are looking for, from the Roots Organic line. It is what I use as a molasses product, but read up on it. I am not familiar with Humboldt Honey ES and its ingredient list. I use Botanicare Flowering for Soil/Coco, NPK, HP2, Trinity, a little Extreme Serene, and Ancient Amber. I love that line, and I love using a quality line from my state! Go Oregon!

I will have to double check on this, but I thought trinity is a kelp extract product...I have a gallon of it...OK its got yucka, mollasses , kelp and soy protein, but its recommended for veg AND flower while honeyES (love it) is a deffinately sweeter more specialized fert for flower only...figure I'll use both , but half a doze each....

Feed the Honey, foliar the Trinity?

excellent Idea for the future, just not set up for folliar feeding now due to many 400 hps lamps hanging vertically between plants, would hate to blow one up lol...what about Honey es at 10 ml/g and trinity at 5 ml/g

We have been using the General Organics (horrible and smells like DEATH. do not use) and we also add in the Fox farms big bloom. Seems fine but that organic is way too thick and nasty smelling.

Never again.
