I know some people use it for rooting even and apply it to seedlings, but I like to wait until the plants are a good size, usually around the time I transplant from the solo cups, and I might give it a foliar spray at the same strength at the same time for IPM. I need to order more aspirin! I just sprayed some cuttings with my last 1/2 tab-thanks for reminding me, I'm going to add some to my amazon shopping cart lol.

One day away from week 4, and I'm still getting a lot of stretch from the Apples and Bananas cross, which is the tallest plant in the tent. Everyone is looking good and on track. I've been adjusting PH a bit higher than I usually do-6.3 in flower-and I've had no trace of magnesium issues this grow even through stretch, so the higher PH may have impacted mag absorption positively, so I'm sticking with it from now on. EC is just 1.1, fed twice daily to plenty of runoff, but in a week or so, I'll bring that up to 1.2 through the addition of MKP for a couple of weeks. I sprayed these girls with 1% mkp solution during week 1 of 12/12 as part of my IPM program, it's a useful substance to keep around. That's all for now!

This is shaping up to be a great run and I think I'll end up with one or more excellent plants and hopefully some unique terps. Thanks for stopping by folks, it's only going to get better next week!

Have you grown solfire before? From what I’ve seen they might be best. I was interested in their pucker up sour apple strain. What strain would you recommend? LouisXVIII? What seed co?
Thanks

The LouisXIII's I'm growing in my other journal are S1s, so I wouldn't recommend those because they won't all be reliably good plants-you have to do some searching through the seeds. I haven't grown Solfire before but I'm impressed with the single plant I have going and I think you'd be happy with a Solfire strain if you are looking for fem seeds-I've seen some killer plants from Solfire. If you don't mind growing out regs, I would check out Tony Green's Tortured Beans at great lakes genetics-I love what he's been working with lately, but other favorites of mine are CSI Humboldt, AKBB, and Hazeman seeds-all have their own threads here if you want to check them out. My next couple grows will be Tony Green's Cat's Eye and AKBB's Hawaiian Cat Piss or Sensi Star F4, haven't decided yet. Good luck on your seed search!

Tony greens tortured beans. What seed vendor sells those? I assume you can’t get them on attitude. Is Great Lakes genetics a seed vendor? Yes I’ve seen some solfire pics on here and I’m going to be testing those. I also have NFSHEEEESH but it’s only a little sprout. Ethos genetics looks interesting

Yeah, Great Lakes Genetics is a very reliable seed vendor with tons of breeders, Tony Green being one of them. I love how the NSFSHEEESH is developing, be sure to let us know how it turns out! There is a Tony Green thread here and a pretty active one in Overgrow if you want to check out pics of his, oh and I'm sure he's on Instagram too.

Cool thanks I forgot about overgrow is that more popular than rollitup? Yes I will post pictures of my grow. My grow lamp is the Hawaiian sunshine. It looks like yours is 2 or 3 weeks from frosty buds I will be looking forward to see

Day 35 flower. For the past week I reduced my calnit and added about .5 g MKP per gallon. My intent with this grow was to increase my N during flower to green up my leaves a bit more-now that stretch is done, I'm keeping my EC at 1.1, but am just replacing some of the N and Ca with MKP for the bulking phase. I'm also reducing the Spirulina to just one feed per day, as it has proven to be a potent source of N. The girls look happy, I have no complaints, I've had zero nutrition issues this time around and at this point I think the rest of the grow will be smooth. The plants are actually getting much more light than my last grow without any bleaching, which I think is down to less heavy breeze now that I took down the tower fan. I can say one thing for certain-the 3.5 gallon air pots work better for 4 big plants in a 4x4 than 2 gallon pots if you are only feeding twice per day. If I were able to add a 3rd feed, I think these pots would be optimal in terms of growth and production however-they just dry out slightly too much for my liking with only 2 feeds.

The darker green of the leaves this time around is messing with my phone's filter, so I'm getting these noir looking pics. I'd love to get a good camera sometime this year and really get more into the photography aspect with lighting and filters and all that.

What are the last 2 pics? A & B Med? Is that a strain? What seed company? Those look frosty too
So those are a single Apples and Banana's X Medellin seed I traded from my friend from a breeder called Star Fire. I wouldn't recommend them just because they are selling for $200+ per pack and that kind of thing is better to try when you can get a 50% off sale during 420 or black friday, or if you can trade seeds with friends. There are too many good seeds from better breeders selling for less. Compound also made a ton of Apples and Bananas crosses, and the actual Apples and Bananas cut can be found on Strainly, just be careful who you order from!

What would you recommend from strainly that is reasonably priced. So much to choose from and it’s hard to know if pics are real.

I'm trying a new concentration of citric acid spray for IPM-300 mg citric acid/liter which should be a .03% solution unless my math skills are worse than I thought, and I just wanted to log it here in case I need to look back and see what I did wrong. I've used up to 3 teaspoons per liter to kill mites in the past, and if teaspoons are around 5 grams each, that would be a 1.5% solution, which is very high and does a little damage to the leaves, BUT it murders mites better than anything else. I've been looking at premixed citric acid products as well as concentrates, and their dosages are all much lower, closer to .05%. To make a .05% solution at home, you just at 500 mg citric acid to 1 liter of water. That amount will lower your PH to around 4, depending on your water-this PH lowering effect is thought to be one reason citric acid helps prevent things like powdery mildew. I decided to go with 300 mg this time due to this study: https://www.hindawi.com/journals/aag/2014/147278/
At that dosage, citric acid increased stem thickness and plant yield. I also added 1/4 of an aspirin, because multiple studies have shown synergy between salicylic and citric acids: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpls.2014.00573/full
At higher concentrations, citric acid can kill bacteria and viruses too, so at a 1% solution it's a great cleaner for tents, trays, pots, all that kind of thing.

Today is day 42, nice progress being made. I've lowered the EC slightly to 1.1 and 6.2 PH. The girls are all on track and getting nice and frosty!

Flapjacks-This plant is on a little slower track than the others and will probably finish up last, but I think she'll still fill out nicely.

Here is a really interesting study I found today on Spirulina and plant growth. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0016706118306657
They found Spirulina improved the soil available NPK, and previously others have found a similar effect on micronutrients. I'm pretty sure this is the cause of the deep green coloration in my plants this time around, even though my ppms are 100-150 lower than my last grow (and then my leaves were much lighter.) I'm just using 1.1 EC right now, and dose with the spirulina every other feed. I can't reduce my calnit anymore without affecting the calcium balance.
