Sandmonkey's 3rd Grow: organic Blue Russian & Sour Diesel

Hey all.

It's been almost a year since i started my last grow and i'm still toking the same stash :bigjoint:

(AK-47 on the left, White Widow on the right)

This grow I decided to give perpetual growing a try. I'll start off in my smaller Homebox with CFL, then move them to my 400w HPS room. This way I can harvest every 4 weeks or so.

My first two strains (from clones) are Blue Russian and Sour Diesel.

Once again I'm going all organic with the entire BioBizz line (this time including the light-mix soil!) and a few other goodies from AN and No Mercy Supplies.

Here they are on day 1, newly transplanted. 4 SD's on the back and one in the middle left.

Here they are after 4 days. You can definitely tell the bushier Blue Russians from the taller, skinnier Sour D's.

Here's one of the Blue Russians. You can definitely see a bit of blue on the leave tips:

No pics today, but my plants have just completed their 2nd day under 12/12 lighting. I want shorter, single-cola plants so the extra veg time would've worked against me.

It's been just over a week under 12/12, and they're definitely starting to flower with a bit of veg growth at the same time. I chopped most of the lower branches (not fan leaves) and left only the top 1/3. Even with my 400w HPS I've found that the lower buds are way too airy. I prefer to focus on fewer, denser nugs.

Here they are: SD's on the right (taller, more sativa looking) and the bushier BR's:

Definitely flowering!

Well it's been 15 days since the switch to 12/12 lighting. they're budding along nicely. Hope they go by fast cuz I just smoked my last joint until I harvest 'em :(

well it's been between 10-12 days of flowering and 18 days of 12/12 lighting.

Flowering seems to be going well. Can even see trichomes developing in the last pic.

Today marks the 23rd day of 12/12.

about 3 days ago I noticed some powdery mildew on one of my plants' lower fan leaves. Uh-oh, not again.

I immediately wiped the infected leaves with alcohol, then misted all the plants with a 10% skimmed milk solution with a dash of cinnamon.

That seemed to halt the PM, but to be on the safer side I moved my plants to my Homebox XL where they have lots of breathing room. Humidity has been reduced to about 35%. Plus the 400w HPS and carbon scrubber don't hurt ;)

Here's the whole bunch:

Day 30 of 12/12

Just a few pics for fun. It's a bit hot in the room (88 degrees) and the humidity is low (30%), which should be perfect for stopping that nasty powdery mildew from ever returning.

Plus I read that Sour D prefer hot and dry climates so hey!

Also forgot to mention that not surprisingly, the Blue Russians really resemble the AK-47s I grew last time. Looking forward... :weed:

Yeah it's not a well-known strain. I believe it's Blue Grass Seeds, and the genetics are:

Blue Hen X Juicy Russian

Juicy Russian = AK-47 x Juicy Fruit
Blue Hen = Super Silver Haze x Blueberry

Day 35 of 12/12

Plants are lookin' good, but I gotta say the Blue Russians look like they're gonna yield a lot more than the Sour Diesels.

Here's the group:

Ha I wish bro looks can be deceiving. I found many of the larger fan leaves and some of the lower bud leafs had some powdery mildew, so I had to go Edward Scissor-Hands on my plants.

Definitely helps with air circulation and lowering night humidities. Any leaf with the slightest sign of PM has to go...

Here they are. I actually just trimmed a few more leaves that started to show the spores. Now i've also moved in my dehumidifier into the grow room. That should keep things stable at night.

My plants have just finished their 6th week of 12/12. Here are the Blue Russians. They have a while to go:

And the skinnier Sour Diesels. Love the sativa bud formation:
