Saving some old mothers

Hello new member from Michigan. I have been browsing around and Have benefited much from the combined knowledge here. my current run of 4-GG-4 that were part of saving an overgrown mother. Left me by a commercial grower friend. It is purported to be a JW Cut and has the red pistoles and twisting leafs of the ones I have searched online. I was able to root a total of 19 and the earliest two were super cropped, topped several times and basket weaved (I abuse thes things as soon as they root in the coco mix). And a early plant that I was going to hold on for a mother and only topped twice for stretch. Girls are into week 5 and stacked 8 nodes high, snow covered and starting their late swell. Blah, blah, blah....I’ll start a thread with some pics, as they are worth a million words and I’m rambling, time for meds Orange OG fatty...smoke up! Later
Do you still have anything left of the mothers or any clones that are not flowering? If so you could take two clones, reverse sex on one, and use the other to make feminised seeds that will keep for years.

Sounds like we come from a similar time period. THC seems to be the most effective for pain, while CBD can't be beat for helping with inflammation. I loved the thai sticks we got back in the late 60's and early 70's. The best pot I ever smoked was some Michoacan, man that was a good smoke and a great high.

Welcome to RIU.

We were still getting those Thai sticks in the late seventies. They were great. You'd get higher than a kite and still be able to hang out at the park and play frisbee. The same frisbee you would use as a tray to clean out the seeds and roll a joint. :bigjoint:

Looking back I realize that I enjoyed the high from the strains back in those days much more than the couch lock, high THC Hybrids that are all the rage these days. It seems that many people judge marijuana strictly by the THC content which is too bad because they are missing out on some amazing strains. If I want 30% THC I'll smoke some dry ice hash. If I want to get high on flower I have no problem with a 15% or even less THC content strain that has a unique taste and other characteristics. I'm done just getting baked from the THC. It might be good for some but it's not what I want out of consuming cannabis. In the last couple of years I've been focusing on growing sativa's or sativa dominant strains and loving it. I forgot how good a good sativa was. Many even have psychedelic qualities. But that's just my preference and it is no better than anyone else's. :blsmoke:

yes X i still have 12 from mothers in veg 8-10"tall and already fucked up and 8 from the flowering plants that will be ready for soil next week. Sounds like a plan id like to pick your brain on how to do it.
I agree whole heartedly Curious, i am artist and i used to smoke a few puffs off the stick and be lost in my sketch pad for hours. Had an older guy gift me a ounce that a buddy gave him, said it was Gold something, looked like hay (definite Sativa now that i know the difference). smoked one small joint and i could not drive, very Psychodelic and a hard hitter for sure. wish i still had all my bagseed, but it would probably take up fifty contractors bags....LOL. i have not seen a bag seed in like 12 years until i found that little thai bean. Always ask the budtenders if they get any at the bottoms of the jars, HAHAHA, maybe someday.

I'm an old timer too 8...I was staying in a little trailer park when I first moved to Cali almost 50 years ago. The owner approached me one day and said...here's a seed for you...Columbian. He had saved a single bagseed and now it was mine. lol

Built a little greenhouse behind my trailer and stuck it in the ground. My first grow. Turned out to be absolutely killer and I harvested just before a Bob Marley concert at the outdoor stadium at San Diego state. Oh what a concert. Bob singing his heart out doing his story telling through dance thing. Joints passed everywhere...who was smoking whose weed. Great day...

Hi instg8ter,
Nice score from your buddy. Unlike Curious, I do keep clone Mommas usually. I'm having to shut down for awhile and am currently flowering all my Moms. But normally I keep 3 or 4 and try and keep them Bonsai-ed as much as possible. Root trims, severe pruning and always cutting clones...keeps them small.

Id always wondered how people kept long term mothers but never really looked into it much.
I just rotate clones and let them do their own thing off in the corner. Moving into fem seeds soon.

yep 10 fractures, wrist, hip in 4 places, 5 ribs and 1 vertebrae, luckily i grabbed a downspout and went in sitting. have had dbl hernia later due to it, two screws and plate in hip and same in wrist. been a daily smoker since i was 15 always helped with type A personality, now its about tailoring the smoke for what me and the wife (fibromyialgia) need as meds and like as smoke. all the new designer weed is fine for a taste but im not smoking for cookies or cake. give me some Thai, or old school michigan Monkeypaw, would love to get some Acapulco Gold, or panama red.
I also have fibro. Got tired of the pile of pills and switched to only bud. The dispensary stuff doesnt help near as much as my own home grown.

I just moved away from Fem seeds. I ran into that micro-seed popping issue with some fems. Besides I prefer to make my own.

What took you so long?

Actually I still make feminized seeds but those go to friends that just want female seeds and don't have any interest in males of making more seeds. I run regulars myself.

Hey I have a defense...both strains were seedbank errors. Ordered regular and got fems. That was the Single seed center...and once I notified them...they made it right. Solid company...and mistakes happen.

Free seeds, so, I grew them. And good on you, for making fem seeds for your friends,

[/QUI had a White Widow mother from 99 to 03. Wife got pregnant and I went offline. Hard training and bi-weekly haircuts. Fabric pots and minimal inputs. Although it was burlap potato bags then.

It's been 25 years since I've even heard those names. I'm stinky, sticky, slightly fruity and potent without choking kinda guy. If it doesn't help with the pain....I at least should not be bothered by it as much.
Back in the day no one knew “brand” names and most the good shit only came through MI once a year at different harvest times. Used to make up our own names, Mexican ditch brick weed and seed that smelled like it was smuggled in rotten apples, “wheelchair weed” was most anything indica heavy. “Skunk bud” , “RedBud”, the chunky “Hawaiian” with the huge green seeds... out checking the girls and they are putting on weight in desire now squeezed a half dollar mug and it’s soft layer over dense core and some are starting to sag, time to get them strung and girdled for the final push. My two finger from one squeeze were coated in clear resin so much I held tips together and blew on it and stretched before releasing like glue

I was in Mineapolis back when stuff like Acapulco Gold and Panama Red was available every now and then. Couple times Columbian which was my fav. Bricks of hash we called Green Death. Good times.

Used to get black hash bricks with Morrocan tax stamps on them....mmmmm, and of course (not so) good ole “Michigan Mud Bud” generic Mexican bricks of seeds and stems.
"Mexican Dirt Weed". $10 for a two finger dime bag. Those were good times. Don't miss the cleaning and trays full of sticks and seeds.

Remember a “lid”, enough to cover the lid of a choc fulla beans coffee can and if the dealer was good he used the gallon size....lol
