further, it is the army's fault that those 6 people were killed in trying to locate BB..the army had a fiduciary responsibility to the other soldiers (human capital) to make sure those recruited are of sound mind and demonstrate ability for war zone..by taking on BB, the army jeopardized their entire unit as well.

I has a buddy in basic who had done all of the Corps marine basic, at his next school he got word that his mother was very ill and likely to pass. He was almost immediately discharged, it took three hours he said before they had given him a 'failure to adapt' and sent him home.
He joined the army and was I basic with me a few years later.
The catch all can be used for good, bad and indifferent.
Perhaps he rolled his ankle and the recovery time was longer then the training slot.
There are a multitude of possible reasons.
Really though, if he didn't like the service once I would hope he had gotten the clue the first time.

Our outside observations make it likely that he was discharged under failure to adapt or he would have been punitively discharged more then likely.
