Second grow ever

As the title says this is my second grow, my first grow was on a window sill with like 4 to 5 hours of direct light per day and no fertilizer. This time around im gonna use lights and fertilizer.

Lights 85 wats clf's
Low grade soil bought from a supermaket (no fertilizers added to the soil)
The pots are large enough so that i dont need to transplant them.

Now some pictures, i'll just introduce my hopeful ladies (their bag seed, but the same strain as my first grow) the biggest one on the left in named maria and on the right is joana:

They look a little stretchy, put your lamp closed but not too close, you'll burn them. pic 3-4and 5 look underfed 'course that could be the lighting....keep on growing, you'll find lots of help and suggestions here.

I fed them today using the recommended ammount, but divided it among the 2 plants to be on the safe side, I dont need a nut burn right now. Tomorrow i'll post more pics to see if theres any change.

I named them because it makes it easier from me and you to keep track of whos who, that way its easier to notice any difference. And I am using perlite, but I didn't mix it with the soil, I made a layer on the bottom with it to help drainage. I made a few holes with a pencil, being very careful to not damage any roots, so more oxygen gets to them.

The leaves were a little on the yellow side for the 10 day plant, but they got greener after I fed her with fertilizer. The light is much closer to the plants and maybe tomorrow will buy another lamp to keep them growing well.
But of them are growing there first pair of 5 bladed leafs. One of the first true leaves on the 12 day plant grew with a 2 bladed leaf instead of just 1 blade which I though it was awkward but didn't pay much attention to it.

Any thoughts or advices will be very much appreciated.

Today I figured out why my plants were starting to stretch, I had the wrong light spectrum (it was 2400k), so I went out and bought 2 clf's with 30w - 150w and 6400k. They immediately responded to the light upgrade and their leaves grew very quickly, I also bought a timer to keep the light cycle precise. They're sleeping now, but tomorrow I'll update you with some pictures.

Plant 2 is growing very slowly, any suggestions?

Plant 1 (27 days old):

Side shots are developing, and it has large healthy leafs. Also the stem is thick and can support easily its weight.

Plant 2 on the other hand stayed pretty much the same as the last update, so I wont be posting pictures of her. I moved the lights closer to her, so im hoping to see some improvement within the next days.

Does anyone have an idea on which strain this could be?

I`ll watch the grow update it looks like you got a sativa plant , have you changed the photoperiod to 12-12 yet ? . Plants looks good and healthy just should get it into flowering because sativa`s get huge and cfl`s don`t have good light penetration .

I changed to 12-12 about 3 to 4 days ago, so im still waiting to see pre-flowers, both of them are looking healthy, and growing very fast.

^ Sounds like a male pull!!! . Nice EAV note that the sativa`s take long to show sex like 1-2 weeks sometimes three so don`t get discouraged just keep them on 12-12 and eventually you`ll see hairs or seedsacks , the males show first though . Goodluck hope that nice looking plant turns female looks healthy dunno what the people where bitching about XD.

I'll update the post with pictures when they wake up, 1h left of darkness. Im pretty happy with the results I got so far, they look much better than my first grow did.

This was my first grow (the same unknown strain):

The first picture she was the same age as the ones I have now. I topped her a couple of times, because it helped reduce the stretching.

Sweet bro your first grow looked dank that bud looks delicous , looked like it was a mostly or pure sativa . I`ve noticed that sometimes if the plant`s stem goes red it`s not a nute deficency but some plants just get that red stem because it`s a different more fruity kinda phenotype compared to the normal piney sativa`s with pure green hairs . How did your bud from last grow taste man ? . Will check back soon thanks for posting those pics of your last grow dude peace .

It tasted very sweet, and gave a mild stone. I chopped her early, I just couldn't wait. This strain tends to have a purple stem when in flowering, i think theres nothing wrong with that.

Heres an update on my plants:
Plant 1 (39 days veg, 4 days flowering)
23072012834.jpg23072012833.jpg

Plant 2 (37 days veg, 4 flower)
23072012835.jpg

Both: 23072012832.jpg

Plant 2 has a light nute burn, but it has stopped the slow growth. Although the nute problem, it now looks stronger and healthier with each day. You can see what I mean when you look at them together, 2 is much smaller than 1.
I also put in 1 more bulb, so now it's 2 clf's with 30 watts each 6700k and 1 clf with 30 watts 2700k.

Do you have any idea on what the strain is called it looks very similar to the sativa`s we get here in South Africa . They looking realy healthy those 6700k`s are making the nodes get big gunna be able to support lank bud your biggest one looks beast looks like you got lucky with that one good genetics .

No idea, a friend gave me 3 seeds that came in the weed he bought. The person he bought the weed from claimed it was white widow but I highly doubt it. I think its a hybrid with sativa dominant, the leaves aren't a skinny as a pure sativa and they arent as fat as a pure indica.
