yup that will work fine for seeding well for the first week or 2 keep them close to avoid stretching

You can put them under your 600w light, keep the light far enough away from them so they don't cook.
they grow under the sun, so your 600w light ain't shit compared to the sun :)

One of your CFL per plant and they will love it. Save the HPS for a few weeks, at least 2. I would add more CFL before going to HPS too soon with your level of experience.

thanks for the replys ill keep them (3 autos) under the cfls for a week or two till i think there strong enough. hps is only 4 feet from were the pots will go, because of this i couldnt keep them under the hps (to hot?), if the plants start to grow to tall ill scrog them but three-four feet from the hps should be fine right (after 1-2weeks under cfls)? thanks

WOW so you want to spend 600 watts from a distance when I could have spent 54 to 65 watts up close for the same growth, and more compact plants from a more balanced light
thats smart :)

oh ya 3 autos under a cfl each you will be good to go till you throw them under the hps.
make a reflector outa a soda can or beer can for alittle extra ooomph if you can
and i find that if you hang them vertically that the ballasts get hot as hell i had a few go out that way horizontal works best IMHO

As to distances from your light, see the above. Note that chart doesn't go past 36". 48" from any HPS invites wicked spindly stretch. Go more by a combination of "brightness" and heat to place the plants. A thermometer in the canopy is handy.

Use what ever light you want to use. It doesn't take a genius to figure out 90,000 lumens is more powerful than 5000 lumens. And if that's all he has to veg with I'm sure the plant will veg under that HPS sooner or later. Right?
Hopefully the OP uses his cfl's as supplemental light in veg. And maybe the OP might consider root pruning to help counter stretch from the HPS.
you could of have made those suggestions to the OP instead if trying to be a little prick with me. :leaf:

id start with 1 23w per plant til a week, then add another for the 2nd. then to the 600w, just my 2 cents

sorry not meaning to be a prick, but your disregard for an appropriate amount of lighting\watts\dollars for a handfull of seedlings screamed out for a comment. Otherwise some reader might think a 600 hps is required to raise seedlings.
